The KF chat feature is underused. The mods should try to come up with a chat event, something like a Q & A with a guest of some kind. That would be sooo cool!

Interview with Chang Shan! Make it happen! :p

That is a good idea HAZ, because I don't get what the chat feature is for. I've clicked on it a few times, but there doesn't seem to be a point to it. When I click the flashchat thing on the bottom left hand side of the main page, it takes me to a page that tells me all abotu the different similies.

It's up in the left top corner of the forum pages...

Home | Reviews Index | Forums | Chat | Search

Click on chat and it takes you to the chat room.

Thanks. I never thought of looking there.

That's partly why the chat feature isn't very popular. I'm still looking for a solution to integrate it better with the forums so that people can find it easily and see who is chatting.

Haz, your idea is a good one but I'm not the one to make it happen. If I were not only tied down with writing, researching and maintaining the site I would consider organizing events. However, the ability for anyone else to use the chat forum for such activities is open to all who are interested. My focus for now will be to simply make the chat room more inviting.

Dont know if this board supports it but what about having some button thats next to a members username that says "User is in Chatroom" and clicking on it will send the person to the chat room versus having to check the main page to see who is currently in the chat room?

I know that PHPBB2 had a mod for that, they have tons. Im not so sure about Joomla, if that is indeed what Mr. Pollard is using, im only guessing.

I'm using a program called FlashChat which has been integrated with the forums. The default integration is limited. Additional coding or alternate software would be required to do what oldschool suggests.

Agreed. No-one's ever on really :).

The Ezboard version was more welcoming with it's link placed at the centre of the image and the feature of letting you know who was on, but it was a pain to use as it wouldn't notify you of replies and I'd be left with tons of chat I missed because the window was minimised.
