I saw a rumour on Youtube that BCI Eclipse is working on putting out an english subtitled version of the Fight! Dragon series with Yasuaki Kurata, Bruce Liang, etc... If that's true, that is awesome. I think it was one of the series' I recommended to Cliff @ BCI back when he was posting in the EZboard version of this group. If anyone has any more info, please do post it!

I'll have to look into this. I came across a '70s-era TV series starring Yasuaki Kurata some time ago while searching Japanese-language sites and I wonder if this is the same one. The video I found of it had some great action in it. This one also had Bolo Yeung in it too.

Linn told me this was a strong possibility a while ago, but BCI hasn't mentioned anything about it this year. Remember that list of upcoming BCI titles that was also posted a while ago? One big title was said to have been missing from the list and it very well could have been the Kurata TV series (though I've heard rumblings about the Yagyu Conspiracy TV series getting released as well.) Personally, I just hope BCI hurries up with the other releases they had planned. I want my judo for life!

It probably is the same show if it's with Bolo. I don't know if he appears throughout the whole series or just in the first episode. I also have an edited, English dubbed version of the show (first few episodes), which I think was called Fighting Dragon. Bruce Liang is also in the show. I wonder who the action director was on the show, because it's not like the Streetfighter movies, for example, which were out at the same time. By that, I mean, it leans more towards HK style, and since there were chinese stars in the show, I'm thinking they also imported an HK or Taiwan choreographer.

I got the information from this specific youtube posting:

I hope BCI keeps on releasing more of the TV series stuff. More seasons of Kage No Gundan are in order! :)

Here's a clip of another Kurata TV series that might be worth BCI putting out on DVD - G-Men 75:

If that's how the fights are throughout the show, put me down for one copy.

Sorry to keep adding more stuff, I found this clip of Bruce Li vs Bolo Yeung from the same series (whaaat??!!!):

and Kurata vs Bolo:

Cliff said back in January on the dvdmaniacs forums (now avmaniacs) (http://avmaniacs.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18386&page=6#78) that this would be coming out this summer. Allowing for deadline slippage I would think it migt still be out some time this year.

Good news. If I'm not mistaken, the Fighting Dragon movie (or whatever its called) was actually edited together from a few episodes of the Gmen 75' series. I've long been a proponent of getting Gmen 75' released, but I doubt it'll ever happen. It's over 100 episodes long and that in itself makes it an unrealistic candidate for getting released.

Are you sure the Fighting Dragon movie was from G Men? I assumed that it was Fight Dragon because the names are similar, and I thought I read it somewhere as well. So do G Men AND Fight Dragon both have Bolo Yeung, Bruce Liang, and Kurata? Or is Fight Dragon a completely different Kurata show altogether (i.e. no chinese action star involvement)?

I found another clip of G Men 75 on Youtube, showing more HK stars, including Lee Hoi San! I know that Yesasia has a number of DVDs for sale with the 'best of' from the series. If anyone has bought any of them, I'd like to find out which one features the best fights, or if they are all equally worth having.

Both shows had chinese actors in them. Gmen 75' was mainly a detective/crime show with Kurata having more of a supporting role as one of the G'men. Tetsuro Tanba was the main character- http://youtube.com/watch?v=3gSGbxWC4b4&feature=related
The chinese martial artists appeared in the episodes with a martial arts subplot; these included actors like Han Ying Chieh, Bolo, and Bruce Liang. This show lasted for a long time and there was even a G'men '82. Kurata went to France a couple years ago to promote its DVD release over there.

The Fight! Dragon TV Series, in comparison, was only one season long and featured Kurata in the main role. Its entire emphasis was on martial arts and it also starred Chinese actors Bolo and Bruce Liang.

I hope that clears things up.

OMG, that Bolo Kurata fight was something else. I can't stop watching it.

I hope that clears things up.

Thanks for the info. Lets just cross our fingers that one or the other series gets a release here. I kinda want to avoid paying $200 for a DVD set that has only 16 episodes.
