Just curious to see what everyone's sporting for their desktop wallpaper, and general os motif.
Since I'm fairly desperate for high-res Shaw Bros wallpaper, I got mine from a thread here courtesy SBR, though am on the lookout for high res SB poster scans.
EDIT: If you don't already have a screenshot application, I suggest: Screenshot Captor 2.11 (http://www.download.com/Screenshot-Captor/3000-2094_4-10433616.html?tag=lst-3&cdlPid=10544476), Gadwin PrintScreen 4.3 (http://www.download.com/Gadwin-PrintScreen/3000-2094_4-10123018.html?tag=lst-9&cdlPid=10727558), or any other simple free screencap software. I personally use ScreenPrint32 (http://www.provtech.co.uk/download/default.asp)
, but you'd have to configure it to capture to file, and where to save, as it's default setting is to capture and send to your printer. Great app though.

Thanks. Yeah it was actually kind of a hassle, as it was trial and error with the originals having unsightly "outline", because after cutting out the faces, I made the backgrounds a solid color so they could be index transparent so the icons weren't blocks but just the shapes of the heads. Then I brought them into several different icon progs that all made them into icons with these jagged white edges, because most icon progs won't use alpha transparency and edge smoothing. So the icons looked unprofessional. Finally, after trying 6 different apps, I found a prog that used alpha transparancy and edge smoothing when making icons and am happy with the end results. No halos, just heads.

This application called Pixelshop (http://www.digitope.com/pixelshop/index.aspx) . It's only free for 30 days but that's plenty time to make hundreds of icons. The kicker is, you have to use the button on the 2nd Start up pop up screen that says 'Convert Image' (import image and open won't work). Then navigate (Select) to your image file that should have your image cleanly cut out against a solid color background (white is best), Make sure the Use Mask Color is selected and that the color is the same as your background, click next and the default is Windows Vista and a host of different icons options, just hit Finish here with all of those icon options checked despite what OS you have, as Pixelshop is weird and likes to crash if you don't.
It will render all of the diff icons, but to the right scroll through them until you see 48 x 48 Alpha, highlight that and then go to File Save As and save it somewhere and that's your icon. Alternately you could choose 256 x 256 Alpha if you prefer enormous icons, or 16x 16 Alpha for tiny ones - but I personally prefer 48 x 48.
What's weird is because you have to use the Convert Image at the start up, I had to keep restarting the app per each image I did lol (if I bought this that would be my first question to them, why Convert Image isn't located within the apps UI).

It should work if you follow those instructions to a T. When converting an image, when you hit Next after setting mask area, just leave it as it is, don't change anything. Leave it all selected and leave it on windows Vista then keep going as described.

This is just a guideline to take a snapshot of your desktop:
1 - Minimize everything so your desktop background will show.
2 - Then press Print Screen (or ctrl plus print screen)
3 - Then press Start - THEN accessories - THEN open paint - THEN press Ctrl + V or paste.
4 - Then just save (save as)
The above procedure can/is used for both Windows XP & Vista.
