Anyone say the MMA that was broadcast last night on CBS?
I am not sure what was showed on TV as I was in the audience.

Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson vs. James Thompson
Bimbo by TKO
Thompson dictated the fight - took Bimbo to the mat but couldn't do anything. The ref stopped the fight after a couple of flurries by Bimbo. Bimbo show us that he has a long way to go - a more experience/dangerous opponent would have taken him out. I can still hear the boos from the crowd. Stop feeding Kimdo patsies.

Elite XC Middleweight fight : Champion Robbie Lawler vs. Challenger Scott Smith
No Contest
Each guy won a round & in the third round there was a accidential poke in the eye by Lawler - after a brief rest - Smith said he can continue but the doctor said no, so the fight was rules a no contest. Lawler dictated the fight but Smith was doing all the damage - there was a nice flurry of muay thai going on.

Gina Carano vs Kaitlin Young
Gina by TKO
Gina & Kaitlin showed some good fighting skills - with Gina displaying some nice muay thai skills - she had Kaitlin in a naked choke but kaitlin defended it good. Fight stopped by doctor cause kaitlin right eye was swollen.

Joey Villasenor vs Phil Baroni
Joey won by TKO in the first round

Jon Murphy vs. Brett Rogers
Brett by TKO 1st round
Brett was introduced by Busta Rhymes - so Brett had to perform LOL

Chris Liguori vs. Jim Bova
Chris by TKO
Christ dominated the fight & it was stopped by the doctor after a cut over Jim's eye.

Carlton Haselrig vs. Carlos Moreno
Carlton by TKO after one.
Not much of a fight - Carlos didn't want to continue after the first round because he was pooped - he wasn't hurt - just tired. You come to fight - so you should be able to last more than a round.

Matt Makowski vs Nick Serra
Matt by TKO round 2 ( actually a NO MAS)

Wilson Reis vs Justin Robbins
Wilson via submission
Nice display of Jiu-jitsu by Wilson

James Jones vs Calvin Kattar
James by submission via a rear naked choke.

Zack Makovsky vs Andre Soares
Zack via decision
Smart fight by Zack - he didn't want to fight Andre on the ground as Andree is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu fighter & almost had Zack early in the match.

Joe Sampieri vs Mike Groves
Joe by TKO - first round

In my view the broadcasting the fights are good & gives exposure - but I feel some fights were stopped too soon - some of these fights would have continued if they wasn't broadcast.

dood cauliflower ear eruption.. eek! Both Kimbo and Thompson gassed hard and Kimbo's ground game needs way more improvement.

I thought Carano had crappy cardio but it was an entertaining fight otherwise.

I didn't really enjoy it. Not really a good representation of Mixed Martial arts with a bunch of knockouts, dancing girls, and practically nobody with any idea of how to fight on the ground. The reffing for the Scott Smith fight was particularly horrible; since when does a fight get stopped simply because a fighter got poked in the eye? Give the man the full 5 minutes to rest. Kimbo was also brought back down to Earth and looked exactly like a fighter with only 3 pro fights. The WEC event tomorrow night couldn't come at a better time--time to watch some real MMA.

You are right about that.
Too many fights were stopped early - looks like they were "trying to be careful not to show too much violence on broadcast TV".
This first showing was a dud.

He said I am ok, lets continue - but the doc said NO.

Kimbo was also brought back down to Earth and looked exactly like a fighter with only 3 pro fights.

He sure did - A little more dangerous fighter would have taken him out. Looks like they are screening/choosing his opponents.

After last nights disappointment - I am looking forward to it.

I've been catching the WEC after the hockey playoff games, I'm looking forward to this tonight.
