Guru Govind Sigh was a great spiritual Master of the Sikh lineage. The last of ten beginning with Guru Nanak.

A SOLDER SAINT OF THE HIGHEST ORDER1

He began his martial training at ten years old. In his twenty's he became the Guru.

Soon the Mogul emperor wanted to kill him and his followers. The odds against Him and his troops was always 3 to 5 to 10 to one.

He was never captured nor defeated. All his sons died in battle.

One story:
In one campaign the Mogul General Khan was in charge of the Mogul troops.

As the battle raged on soon Guru Govind went into the fray to help his troops who were being out numbered and killed. He proceeded to decimate the Mogul troops raising the ire of General Khan. Who soon went down to challenge the Guru.

General Khan did everything with his great prowess to connect a blow to the Guru. When finally the General had to catch his breath Guru Govind Singh said to him;

"You have showed me how you to fence now I will show you"!..

With one swipe of his sword off went the Generals head.

Legend says he was equal to 100,000 men in battle.

He would put gold tips on his arrows so the family's of the dead Mogul solders could survive after the death of there dear ones.

It was also said that those of the enemy killed would receive 10,000 years in heaven or paradise for every drop of blood shed on the battle field.

Such was the legacy of one of the greatest Saints and martial masters of history.

Guru Har Govind also briefly encountered the Moguls.

He was before Guru Govind Singh.

The style your thinking of may have originated with him. I am not sure. Or it could be after Guru Govind Singh that it was finalized.

I'll look into it.

I'm 17 years old and I want to get back into Martial Arts. I haven't joined since five years ago and I lost half if not most of my flexibility and fitness. I want to find a specific type of Martial Arts in Delaware that will put me into good shape quickly. I don't expect to learn to fight real good quickly, but my first concern is getting into shape. What are the top five best martial arts types in Delaware I can take?

Depends on which part of Delaware, there are a couple of Wing Chun and Judo teachers around Newark and Wilmington. A friend of mine studies a particular Japanese art that is taught somewhere in Kent-- can't remember at the moment which art or exactly where it's located. There really are no-- from what I have been told-- decent schools south of Middletown, there are a couple though. There is a Hung Ga school named Shao Lin Tiger & Crane Kung Fu Acadamey in Newark as well. As i've said there are a few that I know of through Delaware, it just depends on which county you are in.
