View Full Version : "Raw" or unsubbed movies
Hi,
I have some weird ass mainland films that I've picked up over the years sans-subs. They come in these funky red dvd boxes. One that I wish was subbed was Undauntd Wu-Dang. The old rarekungfumovies site had some raw VCD's that looked weird, like Black Butterfly Extermiating Evil. Are there any films that you folks have sitting around at home waiting for the day you've finally mastered Cantonese/Mandarin/Japanese/Korean/Thai/Tagalog? What are some titles on your remastered & subbed wish list? I wish I spoke Mandarin...I'd grab a vcd copy of "Sherlock Holmes & the Lady Knight" in a heartbeat!

I've got a fair few of those red VCD cased mainland films, I don't know the titles of half of them and most of them are sitting unwatched on a shelf at the moment!

Haha! I'm in the same boat... Do you have Black Butterfly Exterminating Evil? A search for that took me to a chinese language site with some crazy looking screen caps from the film.

I got Black Butterfly Exterminating Evil in a trade and I also think it's one of those VCD's I've got. I haven't watched it yet though as my pile of films to watch is easily over 200!
I did a quick online search for it and found a screen cap of a breast being milked! :D

I've also got a fair few raw TV series which I would love to see subbed, this is a largely uncharted territory for most kung fu fans and one which needs some serious exploration IMO

Once you start collecting a lot you'll run into these raw movies eventually. Its kind of a shame because Mainland China made a lot of good martial arts movies yet few are available at all--let alone subbbed/dubbed. Same thing applies for 90's Korean Martial Arts movies and Japanese Karate movies.
I'm on the lookout for the mainland flick King of Darts aka King of the Guard vcd as I want to take the english subs from a poorer quality VHS version and make a better version. If anyone has that send me a pm and I can send you a copy of the better version when its done.
You probably know already, but Undaunted Wudang is available dubbed.
Other mainland Chinese movies I'd want subbed:
Little Heroes
Heroes Returning to the East (It seems this was actually for sale subbed at prcmovie.com a few years ago, unfortunately I can't find any trace of it anymore)

Same here. Couple of years back, "when stuff was slow" I would go down to Chinatown & buy them based on the cover or the clips. I have no idea what the title were & still don't.
Some of those movies at prcmovies.com look amazing!!

Yeah, it sucks that they don't sell anything anymore. I wonder if anyone actually got anything from them when they were still doing business.. Haven't really seen any of their disks anywhere though. I would also be interested to see their version of "Swordsman of Double Flagtown"; the current version available on dvd right now is obviously edited.
