in a matter of months we've lost Linn Haynes, Wong Yue, the stuntman who died while making Red Cliff(his name escapes me), and now this:

its really a goddamn shame

It is really a shame...I haven't seen Oldboy, but I heard so much about that hammer fight scene. He will definitely be missed...

I tried to find more info on this story and the stuntman who died but came up with absolutely nothing. Ji Juong-hyun seems to have worked quite a bit with CITY OF VIOLENCE star and action director Jung Doo-hong. He was assistant action director on Sergei Bodrov's MONGOL, Russian-produced historical epic that started a limited theatrical run here in the U.S. on June 6th.

I'm very interested in seeing ACTION BOYS. There are a lot of talented stuntmen working in Korea who deserve more attention.

So this isn't Jung Doo-hong? When I first heard the news I thought that it was just a different spelling of his name used because of the very similar movie credits and the lack of information online on "Ji Juong-hyun". But I guess there would be a lot more noise about it online if it was really Jung. If he really died working on the Good, the Bad, and the Weird set than he at least died working on something really good; from everything I've read online the action in that movie is supposed to be amazing, in an adventure-movie kind of way.

It's not Jung. He didn't work on OLDBOY as far as I know and there definitely would have been greater mention. He's arguably the best known action director in Korea. OLDBOY's AD was Yang Gil-Yeong who as far as I can tell is not the same person either.
