Very sad news.

It's odd but he was only known as "that guy" in Bill & Ted here in the UK, but I knew of him being a comedy legend in the same vein as people like Lenny Bruce, Richard Pryor and Bill Hicks.

It's always a great loss when someone who tells it straight passes away.

Yes, that's exactly right Karlos. He definitely told it straight. A sad loss.

I didn't get into him until the mid-ninties, I saw him late one night on tv and the next day in school I remember telling people about "the little man from Shining Time Station" and how he was one of the most fowl mouthed people I had ever heard, after Redd Foxx.

But unlike a lot of people who us so called offensive language in comedy he was funny with it. And like Redd Foxx, Richard Pryor, and Lenny Bruce you didn't notice it unless they wanted you to. After Pryor he was the funniest comic I had ever heard and his death is marks the ebnd of an era of comics that are often imitated but will never be duplicated.

For anyone wanting to see him on film in performance check out Car Wash also with Pryor they make killer cameos, and for stand up Jammin in New York.

The seven words they won't be allowed to say on TV today will be "George Carlin was never even remotely funny."

Different strokes for different folks but as already been written on this post he was a Comical Genius and a Comic Legend. Seen him 3 times and would of paid to see him again. Thank God for DVD he'll always live, just like Richard Pryor .

I plan on making a memorial CD of some of George's best bits for my personal collection. He will forever be missed.

Learning that George Carlin died was one of very rare occasions when I got saddened by a celebrity's death. I had so much respect for the guy :(
His "I'm a modern man" monologue is a stroke of genius... RIP

Last night they replayed an episode of Saturday Night Live he hosted and it was extremely funny. He was the king of smart type of comedy, and he will be greatly missed.
