Seemed kinda Bourne-ish. I liked Casino Royale though, so I'll probably go see this one as well.

I've always been a big James Bond fan so I'm looking forward to seeing this new movie and Daniel Craig brings a totally new Bond to the table, not to much on gadgets and jokes more ruthless.

Well it looks like its Bond all by himself, against the world so it seems very Bournish to me, I am looking forward to it though

If it's up to the standard of Casino Royale I'll be happy.

OK I got to see this movie last night, and while the action was really good it just didn't feel like a Bond movie all that much to me, I mean I know its a newer kind of Bond and I do like that he's a much darker character, but I missed hearing the Bond music that is the trade mark in every movie it was just not there. And this is the 1st. time a Bond movie has had a sequel.
Now it really never explained a lot about this new Group called Quantum, or what they were all about.
Over all I did enjoy it, but it really was like just watching an Action Spy thriller but it did have Bond, James Bond in it.

The action was pretty bad if you ask me. Just like the Bourne sequels with all of that shaky cam crap that's so popular in Hollywood nowadays. And it didn't help that the script was pretty weak.

The Running Man: I will agree with you on the part of the shaky cam but I guess that just made it seem more realistic at times it was a little hard to see what was going on.

I have to agree on the action front - it was very choppy and hard to follow. I don't see that the director (Marc Forster) had any prior experience with action movies, and according to the credits, it looks like he brought his entire crew with him for this film as well. I think they could have used an experienced action director for those scenes, it would have made it much more exciting. I think the reason people love Yuen Wo Ping's action choreography is the fact that he pulls back from the actors and lets you see a full view of what they're doing. These days there is too much cutting and close-ups, you lose the sense of action and speed... it just gets too choppy.
Overall though, I did enjoy the movie a lot, although not as much as Casino Royale. Craig's Bond is simply an unstoppable vengeance machine. It's exciting, but could wear a little thin if it continues through too many more in the series.

Overall enjoyed it, but hope they don't make it in that style again. It felt like it was a small part of a larger story. Too much emphasis on action and not enough on character and story. There really needs to be a balance.

Loved it, much prefer the new Bond to Bourne.

I like Daniel Craig in the role, I may be one of the few that thought it was inspired casting from the beginning. I like the way "Quantum Of Solace" is compact as far as story telling goes. No time wasted with travelling etc. But I have to admit I find the action a little too in your face. The attempt to put you in the middle of the fights often leads to not being able to see everything that happens. It worked with the Bourne films, but it is not really what you expect from the Bonds. (Didn't this film have the same action director as the Bourne films?) I'm hoping this phase will pass by the next Bond film. This is not as good as "Casino Royale" though overall I enjoyed it, I just hope the quality of the action, pariculary the fights, will improve.

Saw it last night. It certainly seems that the Bourne-type action scenes are the norm these days. I too would love to actually see the blows and kicks connect rather than looking like I'm the one behind the camera. Did also like Casino Royale better.
My other issue with the new Bonds are the ladies. In Casino Royale, one of the villain's co-hort had a smoking wife but she was there and gone before you know it. Then the girl Bond went to the casino with was no grand prize at all. And in Quantum, the girl (the one from Hitman) was cute but what was the deal with that scar on her back? That was a total turnoff! First they take out the gadgets and now we're getting inferior Bond girls? What's up with that? :p

The scar on her back was just a sloppy in your face reminder of why she was so desperately looking for renenge. In reality a woman with that kind of scarring would wear clothes that would cover that kind of thing up. Strange how only that part of her back was scarred in the first place though. In that respect she wasn't really a Bond girl, as the whole concept of the Bond Girl is sex, and she certainly didn't fall for Bond's charms.

(Didn't this film have the same action director as the Bourne films?)
They didn't have a seperate action director for Quantum of Solace - the director handled that job himself (unfortunately IMO)
I'd have to agree on the Bond girl topic. I guess Bond's love for Vesper tempered that personality trait for a bit. Although I have a weak spot for Michelle Yeoh, the last time I really think they had true Bond girls were Izabella Scorupco and Famke Janssen in GoldenEye. Ever since its almost been cameos by established stars looking to add a legendary role to their resume. Didn't it used to be that the Bond girls were usually women that no one had heard of before, but their beauty warranted the role?
Now that I think about it, Michelle Yeoh probably was a true Bond girl, but if you were familiar with Asian cinema she was obviously already a legendary star...

OH yeah I have to agree with the Bond Girls these Ladies just didn't make the cut for Me.
Also as I had said I felt that without the Bond Theme music it was really lacking that true Bond feeling.
And I do agree Daniel Craig is an Awesome new Bond.

I thought Eva Green and Olga Kurylenko were gorgeous. So what if they don't quite fit into the exact definition of "Bond Girl". I'd rather have classy ladies like them (or Sophie Marceau) than bimbos like Britt Ekland or Jill St.John any day of the week. I like Michelle Yeoh too but she's a bit dull in Tomorrow Never Dies and her looks don't compare to the more recent actresses.

The Bond theme played throughout the film! I don't know what movie you were watching?

I thought it was the worst Bond ever! Well, may be not the worst, but one of the worst. Action sucked, it was horribly choreographed, shot and edited, the girl was scary looking (nice bod, though) and the whole movie looked like some Bourne wannabe. I liked Craig though, but he didn't play Bond - more like Terminator.
Totally agree with Ebert's review.
I was very dissapointed, even though I didn't expect much. Even Casino Royale was better. At least in terms of action.
