Duel With the Devils
Matching Escort
The Secret of Chinese Kung Fu
The Wandering Monk

Bear in mind I like a good story and characters, not so much comedy.

Thx.

MATCHING ESCORT- A good Pearl Chang Lin vehicle, nice mystical sets and costumes.

THE WANDERING MONK- Good Taiwanese indie with good charachters, some little known stars get to show off some shapes. Very light on comedy.

Matching Escort is verrry nice. Not my favourite Pearl flick (MIRACULOUS FLOWER FOR THE WIN!!), but still one of my favourites from the genre - I've got a demented obsession for that lady. Luckily this is one of the good ones. A bit batty - not quite Wolf Devil lunacy though, despite some more weird cave based antics, it's more swordplay based, in fact she's kind of revelatory with the old swordplay here. Very nicely done, good story...? I thought so, got quite involved. Definitely sucked me in for the ride, fooo' shoooo'. Well worth the time I'd say. Better than My Blade My Life, I reckon, more involving... if that helps. It more than works for me personally. But bear in mind, despite a few darker elements, it's Pearl - it is quite silly; don't know how she agrees with you Mark, but give it a crack, you never know. Again, worthwhile.

I didn't like MY BLADE MY LIFE or WOLF DEVIL WOMAN... I'm always wary when I see the name Chang Ling.

EDIT: I suppose since I already have them I might as well give them a chance and if they suck I can always press eject.

Matching Escort I found to be pretty average. I haven't seen it for 7 or 8 years or something, but I don't remember it really delivering. Though, out of all those listed it's probably the best shot.

I really, really like SECRET OF CHINESE KUNG FU.

But you wouldn't.

Duel with the Devils is an absolutely brilliant film! I recommend this one Mark. The first half is a little slow, but the second half is just magnificent IMO. I don't want to give too much away, but it's better than Game of Death.

I found Wandering Monk to be pretty dull, just blandness really. Some people like it, but I can't see anything here that would stir any strong feelings either way.

Wandering Monk is a really high level shapes film--it's easily the best film on that list--surprised Judy doesn't like it.

I will have to rewatch it, as I thought the action was pretty lacking! The only positive was seeing ol' moose face in his portable throne... coming to think of it, that almost redeemed the film! Maybe I was half asleep, but I can't see how it was better than Duel with the Devils.

I'd go with Wandering Monk too as the best of the bunch, Duel With the Devils was pretty dull IMO. Secret of Chinese Kung Fu was OK whilst Matching Escort was a bit too crazy for me

The only one I have seen out of those is Wandering Monk. i remember being disappointed because the fighting is slow and uninventive. The villain was ok. I wish the kid actor would have done more. Story wise it isn't all that bad. I give it a 5/10.

And just on a side note- the lead actor kind of reminded me of David Carradine's character in the Kung Fu TV show.
