Not a review but a strong recommend. Good animation showcase with six vignettes about Batman that loosely fall between Batman Begins and the Dark Knight. My favorites were Deadshot and Work Through The Pain. Only drawback is that each story is only 12 minutes long. Still worth seeing though.
this was a big disappointment, decent animation but i thought the stories were really weak
i had really high hopes too, but no dice...

I was also disappointed by this. I'm a megafan of the Animated Series, but this didn't do it for me. The only episode I really liked was where Batman has to learn to deal with his pain.

Well I will have to respectfully disagree. Even though I've never seen the any of the animated series, I think this is a good addition to the Batman media onslaught. Like I said, each story is just 12 minutes, too short for a lot of character development or even that much action. They're more like mood pieces but they do emphasize certain aspects of Batman's character pretty well. The stories are of differing quality in both animation (which is to taste) and storyline. The first one is probably the weakest but they all are at least interesting. It would have been nice to see a feature-length story done by one or two of the animation houses but they probably didn't have enough time to do that.

Most of the reviews I have read are rated at 4 or 5 stars, so it seems that a lot of people like it. It's weird, over the las few years there just haven't been many American movies that I have liked. Maybe that's one of the reasons why I didn't like Gotham Knight. I don't know what's going on with me! :) I just don't like much american cinema anymore. 3:10 to Yuma, No Country For Old Men, Dark Knight..., I don't see the greatness that everybody else seems to be seeing. The last American movie I saw that I really liked was Harsh Times with Christian Bale. I can't really explain it, I just thought it was a great movie. Now, let me get back on track here. :p Other than the dealing with pain episode, I thought a couple others were decent, but I just had too many problems with it overall. My main problem is how short the episodes are. I felt cheated. To me BRuce Timm's original Animated Series is perfection. Maybe I didn't like Gotham Kniht because I am so used to the Animated Series. And that sort of leads to another problem I had with Gotham Knight. The voice of BAtman in Gotham Night is the same guy who voices Batman in the Animated Series, but his voice doesn't fit the 17 year old looking Batman in Gotham Knight. I guess I was spoiled with the Animated Series. I don't like any of the other Batman cartoons I have seen, but I would put Gotham Knight as second best.
Also CrazyFrog, you haven't seen any of the Animated Series? Not even the Mask of the Phantasm movie?!?! I highly recommend that!

It does seem the people that grew up with the animated series were less likely to enjoy Gotham Knight. It was average to me. I liked it enough to buy it and not regret it.

I really tried to enjoy Gotham Knight but I found it to be over hyped with not enough substance. I did really like The Dark Knight though so I think Gotham Knight was just a cash in move that didn't live up to the hype.
