Johnny Depp is one busy man.

Depp has agreed to reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in a fourth "Pirates of the Caribbean" pic and play Tonto in a bigscreen adaptation of "The Lone Ranger," both produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. He will also star as the Mad Hatter in Tim Burton’s version of "Alice in Wonderland."

The roles come after Depp helped Disney earn a combined $2.6 billion at the box office with the three pics in the "Pirates" franchise, also produced by Bruckheimer.

"Alice in Wonderland," skedded for 2010, will be shot using 3-D and performance capture technology similar to that used for "Beowulf."

Instead of sequels and remakes, why don't they just combine two of those?

"The Lone Ranger in Wonderland" - I'd pay to see that.

LR to the Cheshire Cat: "Smile when ya call me that."

I saw the first one and that was more than enough....

Pirates 3 was a big letdown, they will have to really work hard to make a comeback for this slumping franchise. Other than that I enjoyed the first 2 movies, so I am hoping for them.

according to the source Pirate 3 was a rush project. In order to meet the deadline the CGI team had to work overtime, and they did not make a lot of money compare to the first two. I got this news from the ign site.

I'm looking forward to that.

I hope ALICE ends up really trippy. There are things you can get away with in digital rotoscoping that would never work in live-action filmmaking, even with fancy digital effects.

The PIRATES franchise is dead as far as I'm concerned. I only watched half of the second film and listened to other critics on the third and stayed away from it. As good as Depp is in that role, the writing isn't there to support it.

As a longtime fan of the LONE RANGER, I have hopes Disney's version is a success. My wish is for a more mature re-imagining along the lines of LONESOME DOVE but I fear it will end up like THE WILD WILD WEST update.

The first pirates movie was barely ok. I couldn't bring myself to watch either sequel.

I really enjoyed the 1st. & 2nd. "Pirates of the Caribbean" movies but yes the 3rd. one was a really big let down to me. As for the 4th. movie I hope they can make up for it.
