Hey guys,
I just watched some episodes of Jyuken Sentai Gekiranger and its Americanized-version, Power Rangers: Jungle Fury. I think the fact it concentrates on "animal styles" intrigued me to see it.
I love the use of Hong Kong movie references on the series. For instance the art of "Jyuken" (Beast Arts) was created by Master Brusa Li (Get it ;)) and there are seven masters of the arts, who are different animals:
Elehung Gambou (Elephant): Hung Kam-Bo/Sammo Hung
Gorie Yen (Gorilla): Donnie Yen
Michelle Peng (Penguin): Michelle Yeoh
Sharkie Chan (Shark): Jackie Chan
Bat Li (Bat): Jet Li
Bion Biao (Goat): Yuen Biao
In one episode of Power Rangers: Jungle Fury, the Rangers (Red Tiger, Yellow Cheetah, Blue Jaguar, Violet Wolf, White Rhino) had to face against the Poison Fist Masters, who were referenced by the classic Shaw Brothers film Five Venoms, they look like kyonsi with their poison style on their forehead, like the masks on the Venoms, and took mutant forms as well, looking like their respective styles. The Scorpion was a female on the series.
My daughter loves both versions and so do I. LOLXD
