Does anyone know about this massive documentary about to be televised in China? Information I know of has it costing around 7.3 million and will be 50-parts. It took 9 months to film. 2 episodes airing consecutively every night in a two-hour slot. It was shot in China, Hong Kong, Macau, the United States, Italy and Thailand. It will be showing this Sunday on state TV. It is supposed to be the most detailed documentary ever that traces his teenage years in Hong Kong to his death. If anyone has anymore details about it, please share.

State TV as in China sanctioned. China Central Television (CCTV) is televising it. The series did get approval from Lee's family. Also the message of Chinese strength in his movies matches the message the Chinese government promotes. What is uncertain is his feelings toward their communist regime, so it doesn't sound like politics will be part of the documentary. Hopefully we'll get a dvd release or something here in the U.S.

Here's an article that gives more detail about the series.

There's an item on it in today's New York Times, but it's described as a 50-episode biography and it states that it stars Danny Chan as Lee and was filmed in mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, Thailand, the United States and Italy at a cost of $7.3 million. It sounds like a drama to me and not a documentary.

Now that more information is becoming available, it looks to be a t.v. drama series. So scratch the documentary headline.

I guess none of that 7.3 million went to production or costume design! Do these people realize that they are making a period piece??!!

He looks like Bruce, but his fighting isn't true to Bruce. I'd rather have a guy that jst kind of looks like Bruce as long as he's a good fighter

Danny Chan looks a lot like Bruce Lee, but i agree with Morgoth he doesnt fight like him or show the power and energy Bruce Lee showed. I think though this might be a good series to show depth into Bruce's life, so Im really looking forward to seeing it.
