Jackie promoting The Big Brawl on UK children's show Tiswas

Wow!

Strange that Jackie would promote a film to kids that they legally couldn't see in the UK.

I may be wrong but, wasn't Big Brawl an 'AA' back then...like today's PG?

I think it was. Mind you, the BBFC still has Snake In The Eagle's Shadow and Dragon Lord at 18

Ironic that such a mild film is still censored for its fighting content

I believe the double palm slap to the ears Jackie did on one of his opponents was cut, the HKL's version(UK based company) has this scene cut on their DVD if I'm not mistaken.

Yeah, apparently the ban was because some med student got deafened imitating the Tango ad

The BBFC were cutting earclaps long before tha Tango ads.

The AA Cinema version was cut to remove several kicks to the groin, an ear clap (replicated for video and DVD) and a neck break.

Even so didn't the AA have an age restriction?

An X was an '18'

Point is: not the kind of film you'd normally promote to kids.

If submitted now the film would be passed uncut.

I think 'AA' was 14yrs and over if I remember correctly. Still, Big Brawl was comedic unlike say 'Fist of Fury' which was largely serious and so got an 'X' rating.

The Big Brawl would've been an 'X' uncut (if the BBFC had allowed). Kung Fu movies were treated very harshly by the BBFC and being a comedy didn't matter.
