I remember getting a laugh out of the Amazon.com reviews of the VHS edition of THE STOMP, because customers were furious because they had bought it thinking they were getting this:

Yeah i remember seeing that. It never ceases to amaze me how people blindly buy things without reading the product description or buying products with virtually no description. I wonder many people bought Heroes Two(Shaw Brothers) thinking they were getting the second season of the Fox Tv SitcomXD

I originally thought True Master was the Meng Fei, Roc Tien film Silver Spear, but it might not be. Does Dark Skinned Assassin/Silver Spear have a monster with long teeth called the silver hermit?
True Master is a Meng Fei swordplay; anyone have ideas?
Gaijin84

There are two "Silver Spear" films. According to projectaka.com (awesome site btw), True Master is Deadly Silver Spear (1977) (http://hkmdb.com/db/movies/view.mhtml?id=9537&display_set=eng) (or Shaolin Silver Spear) w/Jimmy Wang Yu & Hsu Feng.
Dark Skinned Assassin is Silver Spear (1979) (http://hkmdb.com/db/movies/view.mhtml?id=9088&display_set=eng) w/Roc Tien & Meng Fei. Also, projectaka has an alias for this film as "Silver Hermit From Shaolin Temple," so that Silver Hermit reference might fit in there.
Does anyone have either tape to confirm this?

I have True Master on tape, and it is a Meng Fei Taiwan (?) swordplay with a very long tournament scene. It is not the Jimmy Wang Yu film Deadly Silver Spear.
It also appears to not be Meng Fei's Silver Spear, as the mismatched back of the box shows a "Silver Hermit" with long teeth and grey skin. This character looks similar to the monster in Jade Dagger Ninja's finale.
I think Dark Skinned Assassin is probably the Silver Spear film with Meng Fei and Roc Tien. I do not know what True Master is, but will try to get more info.

I now think, after looking at HKMDB, that True Master is actually Ninja Swords of Death AKA Flying Swallow.
I have not had access to the tape recently, so I remembered incorrectly when I thought Mang Fei was a star. I am 100% sure this is the right title to True Master, since the cast photos linked on HKMDB are what I remember(plus there is a martial arts tournament).
Not sure if there are other mistitled films, but one mystery has bothered me for some time...
The back of the Sandman/The Marvelous Kung Fu cover has a Lu Feng v. Chiang Sheng fight scene in which both of them look much older than in Chiang Sheng's last known films. It is a modern day setting in which Chiang Sheng is wearing a red outfit. Lu Feng is in some kind of gray/blue tracksuit. I cannot scan the back now but will in the near future. I posted a while back on these forums and got no response.

Just to consolidate a few from before and a couple new ones:
Stone Cold Wu Tang --> The Karate Killers (1973) w/Jason Pai Piao
Wu Tang Gambinos --> The Big Family (1976) w/Sek Kin
Wu Tang Vs The Nation --> 5 Kung Fu Daredevil Heroes (1977) w/Lo Lieh
Wu Tang Matrix --> Men of the Hour (1977) w/Pearl Cheung
Shaolin Sabre vs Wu Tang Spear --> Odd Couple (1979) w/Sammo Hung
Wu Tang Sacred Fist --> Butterfly 18 (1979) w/ Lee I-Min
Wu Tang Magic Kick --> The Mar's Villa (1979) w/John Liu
Wu Tang Champ --> Champ Vs Champ (1980) w/Dragon Lee
Wu Tang Prince --> Shaolin Prince (1983) w/Ti Lung
5 Venoms VS Wu Tang --> Magic Story (1987) w/Bill Tung
Avenging Eagle --> Great Massacre (1982) w/Leung Kar-Yan
Chess Boxing Destroyer --> The Hero (1972) w/Jimmy Wang Yu
Chess Boxer's Last Stand --> Bruce Le's Greatest Revenge (1978) w/Bruce Le
With Chess Boxing Matrix, I got the "Labyrinth of Death" DVD which is a straight conversion from the VHS tape (they didn't even bother to change the re-title screen). There was no record for it in HKMDB, but the Chinese title was found, and is "小俠龍捲風". After more research, I believe this is based on the 1958 Taiwanese comic "Chivalric Tornado." Can anyone confirm?

Sorry to double post, but I just noticed that the 5 Venoms vs. Wu Tang depicted on youtube and the photobucket cover is not Magic Story. The Chiang Sheng, Lu Feng taoism movie has a similar plot to Magic Story, but they are definitely two different films. Magic Story is kids oriented, but stars no venoms and has a totally different finale.

Another update - 5 Venoms vs Wu Tang looks to be an unofficial sequel to "Hello Dracula," with the same zombie kid character.
HKMDB entry (http://hkmdb.com/db/movies/view.mhtml?id=13635&display_set=eng)
Both Lu Feng and Chiang Sheng appear in it, but its more of your standard Taoist (?) monks vs hopping vampires comedic fare. Not absolutely terrible, but not anything to write home about.

FEROCIOUS MONK FROM SHAOLIN is a completely different film from FURIOUS MONK FROM SHAOLIN. FEROCIOUS MONK... is actually THOU SHALT NOT KILL...BUT ONCE (1975). Chen Sing stars in both films. I was confused, too, but HKMDB cleared it up.

Dark Skinned Assassin --> The Last Duel (1981) w/ self-directed Lung Yun
here are the backs of the tapes for anyone interested, kind of silly...

I admit this started as just the ones that were referenced on the cover as part of the "Wu Tang Collection" but morphed into all the VHS releases from Xenon that twisted the titles around. However, the photobucket (http://s221.photobucket.com/albums/dd258/Gaijin84/Wu%20Tang%20Collection/) list are all the ones mentioned in the list. I have True Master on tape, and it is a Meng Fei Taiwan (?) swordplay with a very long tournament scene. It is not the Jimmy Wang Yu film Deadly Silver Spear.

I think Dark Skinned Assassin is probably the Silver Spear film with Meng Fei and Roc Tien. I do not know what True Master is, but will try to get more info.
Another update to the seemingly never-ending ID process. The Xenon Video Tape "True Master" is actually "Ninja Swords of Death." However, as originally mentioned above by odioustrident, they put images from a different movie on the back. These pictures, including the ones of a vampire-looking guy are actually from the film "Silver Spear (http://hkmdb.com/db/movies/view.mhtml?id=9088&complete_credits=1&display_set=eng)," a 1979 wuxia effort by director and star Roc Tien. Meng Fei also appears very briefly in the opening scene.
