The original exterior site for Game of Death, The Beopjusa Temple, is shown as it is today. This was to be the backdrop for the action scenes in Bruce Lee's unfinished film. The structure, built many centuries ago, around 553 A.D., was reconstructed, and then burned during the Japanese invasions (1592-98). The present pagoda's reconstuction dates back to 1624. A single beam built directly in the center supports the entire structure, and the exterior gives the illusion of five stories when in actually it's simply three stories. What a beautiful Temple, and Landmark.

How Lee came up with this particular monument, may have played on it's history and background. This is not just some ordinary pagoda.

Sorry shukocarl, It's the same link as in falkor's post on the Secret Rivals location.

Here it is: http://www.orientalarchitecture.com/kyonggi/hongneungindex.htm

I've added a few shots of Bruce for contrast between the actual Temple and the studio set. (Note the mats and cardboard set-up in the shot with Bruce and Jie Hon Jae, to catch Chieh Yuen when he's thrown downstairs by Kareem.) :p

Lots of Kung Fu film locations found there. I just found the one for the 5 story pagoda Bruce wanted to use for GOD was particularly interesting, given the history and all.

I saw the pics when you first posted this thread, but I'm not seeing them now.

edit- I see them now, they showed up again right after I made my post. :o Maybe you have to be logged in to see them?

That was exactly the case for me, I could not see them until I logged in. If TWC and Tigerstyles posted though they had to be logged in so I don't understand why they couldn't see them?

I can see them now even when I'm not logged in. Really weird.
