Armour of God 2 jumps to mind.
Also, Who Am I seems to have a decent fanbase, and although I agree the last 20-30 minutes are nice, the movie in itself is beneath poor.

For some reason when Wang Yu left Shaws he left behind all his acting ability.

Go figure.

I think he's consitently good in the films of other directors and consistently wooden in his self directed films

I don't understand the acclaim for many of the post 73 Shaws, especially those of Lau Kar Leung

For me it's the Donnie Yen movie Iron Monkey, I don't understand all the acclaim it receives when it's quite blatantly shit IMO ;)

For me, its most Venoms films. There are movies that are so bad they're funny, and then there are Venoms movies. There's nothing funny about how bad they are.

I pretty much agree. While I love "Enter the Dragon," I think every other Bruce Lee movie is stupidly overrated and don't understand why they're poured over like cinematic gold by some fan boys.

Before anyone says, this does not mean I don't respect or enjoy Bruce Lee as a martial artist.

This is because the Bruce Lee films were unique at the time they were released.Anyone old enough to see them when they came out would understand. As he only made a few films and then died under mysterious circumstances at the time when the world was just begining to accept him as a universal hero, the thrilling aspect is that the man could never outdo himself;he wasn't given the chance therefore this "golden fan base thing" is the speculation of what could or couldn't have been that is why people take solace in his stupidly overrated movies which in turn gave the world the Bruce Lee clones as the world just couldn't get enough. It continues to this day.

I understand the nostalgia and the "What if?" aspect of Bruce's possible career but, in my eyes, the movies just don't hold up. Many kung fu movies maintain their charm and allure many years after being released but Bruce Lee's films...well...don't.
Sure, they're not the worst movies ever made and I do have a general warmth towards "Fist of Fury" and to a lesser extent, "Way of the Dragon" but I don't understand why they're still heralded as genius to this very day. I feel they mostly fall flat and are simply nowhere near as good as Bruce Lee worshipers would have us believe.

I'm not arguing Bruce Lee's talents, ability, presence or anything else. I'm arguing that his films, as a movie experience, are somewhat dire.

Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, great movie but please america get over it! so many in america view this as the epitome of martial arts movies just because it was one of the few to make a big splash in the states, Im sick of hearing about it and sick of seeing so many paodies of it in the mainstream, there are plenty of other good martial arts movies to parody if america would just give them a chance

Hell... Most of the films from that era were "somewhat dire."

Most movies from any era are "somewhat dire"...;-)

To each their own... Bruce was special and I guess that in his case the man and the movies are hard to separate.
But many good films were made in HK in late 1960s and early 1970s. Fighting-wise they may be considerably weaker than Bruce Lee stuff, but if I want to watch a good film from that era, there's better stuff to choose from. I personally will take a good wuxia film or for example Vengeance! over any Bruce Lee flick, anytime...;-)
(But it's not like I "wonder why Bruce Lee movies are popular". There's Lee in them, that alone more or less answers the question, I think...;-))

And no, I'm not trying to start a fight...;-) (As I said - to each their own.)

Right. To each, their own... There are many films I love from that era; some well made, quality titles, like Come Drink With Me, and others not so great, but still entertaining: King Boxer, The Wandering Swordsman. Others still I consider classics; Blood Brothers, Hapkido, The One-Armed Boxer. I am not saying those are the only ones, simply a few I have taken notice of.

As for the Lee films...

He was the only star to come along at that time, and literally move an audience. One had to be there during that era to understand the feeling. Hasn't been there since he departed. There or here. Undeniable.

Carter Wong. I hate him, even though hes been in some good flicks. Ok, hes good in Born Invincible thats it. Also House of the Flying Daggers. Most 90s HK stuff blows it out of the water

About the Bruce Lee films, I watched my first ever one two days ago. Enter the Dragon. It wasn't bad, but just didn't cut it for me. I however can see why they would have been so popular to people that have only seen those kung fu films first, and had no idea what traditional kung fu was or appreciated it. Not attacking anyone, just to let you all know, just stating my humble opinion.
