Hi,
I didn't know where best to post this, so I picked here.
Videoasia is releasing a 10 film set, I think in Feb, called History of Ninjas, and I was wondering if anyone here is familiar with the films on it, and if it'd be a decent set to get?
10 classic ninja films are included. Ninja Weapons (1956); Seventeen Ninja (1960); Ninjitsu (1957); Purple Hood Ninja (1958); Hitman the Cobra (1987); Hero of Swallow (1996); Dark Lady (1983); Golden Ninja Invasion (1986); Ninja Kids (1986); and Ninja Power Force (1988).
Thanks,

those are some ancient ninja films, I might pick it up if at least 4 are decent but never heard of these particular films.

Some of the titles and years look like Tang/Lai Ninja films, which I happen to enjoy. The older ones may be interesting as well. I'll get this I am sure.

I just ordered mine off Amazon seller, for total of $15.88 brand new.
Cool! Let the Ninjas begin! I don't expect much though, being a Videoasia release.

OK, I just got this in the mail today, and sampled a bit through it. 1st it should be known, it's not a "quality" set. it's on Videoasia, and it does seem they can make DVDs that actually play now, still their picture quality is from old VHS tapes, which is OK, in that these titles are usually hard to find, and as a fan, I am just glad they are here at all. So, I support Videoasia. Now, I am a mega fan of the IFD, Filmark, Tang, Lai Ninja films, and we have some in this set:
Ninja Kids Phantom Force, actually the onscreen title is Ninja Phantom Force, and it has no kids in it, it's not for kids either IMO. This film is also on some other DVDs as Ninja Empire. It's pretty good, but I didn't like getting something I already had.
Golden Ninja Invasion, is another Filmark movie, with Stuart Smith/Steen. I haven't seen this one before, or yet.
Ninja Power Force is an IFD Lai film with Richard Harrison, which I have not seen before, or yet either. So this set gives me 2 Tang/Lai Ninja films I didn't have before.
I did not sample the side with Purple Hood Ninja 1 and 2. I think they are older films, Japanese. if they arn't, I'll post again.
Now, there are a few widescreen black and white Japanese Ninja films:
Ninjitsu. And Ninja Hunt, I 1st thought Ninja Hunt was the Tang/Lai Ninja film Videoasia released before on their Martial Arts 10 Pack which was terrible and barely played, and the sound was so out of synch it was unwatchable. But this Ninja Hunt is a B&W Japanese widescreen film.
Cyber Ninja looks really interesting, set in a post apocalptic world, with giant robots, and ninjas! Hero of Swallow looks more traditional Kung Fu. I can't remember what 17 Ninjas looked like.
Well, I hope they make more volumes, I really want to get all the Tang/Lai Ninja movies I can. I'd love to see the real Clash of Ninja on DVD, and the so many others.
I also like the older Japanese films, having been recently wathing Yojimbo and others.
So, if you like Tang/Lai films, and older Japanese films, and don't already have these titles, and realize you arn't getting remastered from original negative anamophic prints, then I'd recommend it.

Bootleg versions of some Japanese flicks, the quality of some of these films is bootlegs other films on here are of decent to good .. Videoasia should be ashamed of themselves for releasing this, I will not support such a low budget company anymore if they keep releasing piles like this. The films deserve to be treated better than this in this particular compilation.
so Ninja Hunt looks bad? I was deliberating picking this up because of it specifically, i've read a lot of positive reviews.

Whoops! :quiet:
I didn't realize this thread existed, and I started a new one about the same set yesterday. If you want my opinion, I put the thread under general since it had a HK film and Japanese too.
