Who thinks that old 70 or 80 martial artists will come back to the screen soon?

do you mean 70 or 80 years olds, or stars from the 1970s and 1980s?

Either way, Ku Feng is still around, and was in Rob-B-Hood

I think Samo Hung is on his way to a decent comeback. The movie 'Kung Fu Chef' looks like a good comedy. It also stars Bruce Liang. Check out the trailer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mR2VkVaDSKY

If you're wondering if they'll be showing on a screen at your local AMC, I think "never" is the quickest answer.

If you want to see them on a big screen, you need to keep an eye out if any local revue theaters are planning on playing them.

Really? It wasn't brilliant but if you stack it up against many of the old school films (and to be fair virtually every new HK made film) which get ridiculous praise then it's no worse than any of them IMO. Chi Kuan Chun was a legend and as Mark implied after his re-appearance I would have expected him to get a few more roles but he's done a Lord Lucan!

I always though Chi had the acting talent of a plank

I thought Ku Feng is not a martial artist.
I guess none of old kf stars will come back, because there's no interest in them and in martial arts in the strange city called Hong Kong.....:o
Even,Lee Sau Yin is not a martial artist but he doesn't act in starring roles anymore(i don't count his supoorting roles).

Ku Feng must know martial arts of some sort, he played Wong Fei-hung in Master of Kung Fu and in a documentary you can see him instrucing new recruits for Shaws in kung fu

And Taiwan isn't even an alternative anymore because it's film industry is nonexistant now or so people say.

I'd like to see Billy Chow back. He could play a badass gangster in a good movie, not that b-movie crap he did for the last part of his career. He can't end his career with movies like Roaring Tiger Bluffing Dragon and Dragon in Fury.

I think Billy is focused on his Muay Thai career, but I agree with you.

I don't know I think in his earlier roles he looked pretty good and was definitely fit, check him out in Duel of Fists.

I think the film industry NEEDS some of these oldshool people back, if anything behind the cameras. Now if someone would get my man Kuo Chui back in the spotlight, he deserves a place right beside Jackie Chan if you ask me.

I've seen Ku Feng do a lot of great stuff. I think he studied karate, but obviously picked up a lot of fu from all the movies. Just check him out in THE KUNG FU INSTRUCTOR or AVENGING EAGLE to name just a few.

I love Kuo Choi, and would also really dig seeing him in a starring role. I'm thinking of writing a script for him called EIGHT FINGERS OF DEATH. XD

If I recalled correctly. The two girls who were organizing the now dead venom's convention managed to locate his whereabouts.

That was the last bit of info I heard about him.

Then i'll check those movies.By the way did he ever play a leading role?

I'd love to see Tan Tao-Liang, Wang Tao, James Nam, Li Yi-Min, Lee Choi-Fung, Elaine Lui, and Etsuko Shihomi make comebacks. However, I know that won't happen. I think in '03, Cynthia Khan did some DTV Taiwanese movies?

I wish all of these great actors you guys are suggesting came back, maybe they will, just wait and see.

I thought it was OK. Besides you can't judge Chi Kuan-Chun by the quality of film he's in.

I always though Chi had the acting talent of a plank

Never the most expressive actor to be honest but I recall him being very good in Boxer Rebellion.

Ooh I think Carter's much better.

Gotta disagree. Have you seen him in Born Invincible?

Theres no reason why some of the old timers can't act as good\bad Sifu. However is anyone likley to make traditional kung fu movies these days...

He said in that recent Toby interview on the LG disc, he did not have any formal training...
HOWEVER he did learn much from Pops and others on the set while filming.

Oh man, that's cold blooded dawg! (Haha) Love to see KC in action again.

Toby interviewed him last year. Still in the biz. Hopefully we'll see that footage in the near future.

Don't forget about Sun Chien!!

Ditto on the interview though not in the biz and doubtful he will ever return.

I'd love to see Tan Tao-Liang, Wang Tao, James Nam, Li Yi-Min,

TTL and WT .. most definitely would love to see these guys again!

LYM is done with the industry and wants nothing to do with it.

...

Cool... What does he do? Choreography (I think I've read somewhere that that's his occupation these days - or was in late 1990s/early 2000s) or does he occasionally show in front of the camera as well?

Pity about Sun Chien...

What about Alexander Lo. I don't think he ever got to reach his potential. I'd like to see Meng Fei and Eddie Ko make comebacks as well. Dick Wei would be good as well.

I agree with DragonSword, originally with the success with the Grindhouse Films, he planned on releasing a sequel with a Kung Fu movie in it. Sadly, I doubt he'll ever make it, but by the people he chooses for his movies & kung fu references I'm sure he'll make a kung fu movie sooner or later with legends.

Gordon Liu, at a screening I went to last summer, was asked if he'd be interested in doing a Pai Mei movie if Tarantino approached him, to which he replied 'I WISH!'. So he's definitely up for anything.
