Inheritor of Kung Fu

Classic indeed.

I saw this again last night and it dawned on me that this was the Pearl Lin movie I saw at the Pagota Theater in Chinatown, Boston in the 1980's.

I often was trying to place the scene where Pearl is kicking some major "A".

Its the scene where she is fighting the hooded killers and jumps high in the air and then comes down and pounces on their heads.

For years I have been wondering what film of Pearls I saw this scene in.

Ti Lung, of course, was magnificent in this film as well.

Pearl was especially brilliant through out the film.

I hope you all enjoyed this masterpiece as much as I did!

I only remember Pearl in one scene. The movie achieves its maximum awesomeness when John Ladaski shows up with that cross. Good stuff on the Tai Seng commentary too. Samuels- "Why is he carrying a cross". Myers- "Because he's white".

On a rating out of 5 How would you rate Inheritor? I've not seen it yet!

I'd give it a 1.5/5. I thought it was a horrible movie, but there's some good stuff in the final fight. Kwan Young Moon and Chang Yi Tao give an awesome kick display.

For me there was no saving grace to be found in this movie. Fight scenes were below mediocre, the acting was shabby. I watched this movie thinking to myself that with the way these performances went (they were terrible even for a kung fu movie) no one seems to actually want to be in this movie. Ti Lung is misused in a role that would have been better fit for someone trying to break into acting.

Pao Hsuh-Li is a capable director who has definately had his shares of ups and downs. For me this was one of his downs.

The story moves ridiculously fast, and the fight scenes were just awful, not the worst i've seen, but still nothing to rave about.

Thanks for the feedback- I'll be avoiding this. I watched the heroes recently and thought it was great. I was wondering if IOFK was in a similar vein being a non shaws with Ti Lung etc, apparently it isn’t!

If I recall correctly Pao Hsuh-Li directed Blood Treasury fight which wasn’t as good as I hoped and 8 Escorts which was dire IMO!

Blooded Treasury Fight is a classic in comparison to Inheritor (not even its original title).

Absolutely dire movie, one I definitely won't be watching again

From my perspective I found the action quite rewarding and very well done.

Sure some of the sets were a little cheesy.

But still the action was RIGHT ON to me.

Different strokes for different folks.
