I have the Dance of the Drunken Mantis dvd with the "great" Insta action. I watched it having to go back after each Insta Action skip, but I want to disable it. Does anyone know how I can do that? Even if I have to use the computer somehow to come with a good version. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Why don't you just pick up the Mei Ah disc, instead. It's anamorphic widescreen with cantonese/mandarin mono audio and none of the annoying 'features' (much less inferior picture and audio) of the Video Asia disc. The Mei Ah disc isn't perfect, by any stretch, but it's still the (marginally) best version out there.

You can find it at Yesasia, Hkflix, dvdasian, etc...

That insta action thingy is frustrating, it kept happening on one of the discs I had so I ripped a copy of the film, no menus just the movie, and the copy played alright.

Thats what I was thinking about doing. I only want a dubbed version though, because of sentimental value.

My otherwise decent Video Asia version of Invincible Armour is marred by Insta Action, sometimes it plays OK,sometimes it starts skipping all over the place. Insta Action is the scourge of kung fu movies. If I see a movie with it, I will not buy it.

I mean, who thought of this odious feature? Are people so ADD that they can't sit through 2-3 minutes of dialogue and/or plot development? Even worse, when my my DVD malfunctions, it skips the fights so you have to go to the menu(which doesn't really work-it's Video Asia of course) and try find the part that was missed etc. Totally retarded.

The only way to get past the insta action glitch is to keep the time displayed on the screen, and when a chapter is about to end you have to fastforward through it until the next chapter starts. It's very frustrating but that's the only way I know of.

I usually wait till it skips then go back and fast forward if neccesary. Why would a company invent such a "feature" without being able to turn it off. Someone should contact them and ask them why!!

Its a stupid unremovable feature on a lot of Videoasia brand dvds. It automatically skips past the story and goes straight to the fight scenes. It would have been a alright feature if you wanted to watch a few fights from the movie or didnt have a lot of time. The problem is that even when you dont turn it on, it is automatically on.

i neither heard of this feature nor the distributor. the feature does sound rather annoying.

Too late now for that title, but my best advice is stay away from VideoAsia!!! Probably the worst quality around. :nerd:

Videoasia for me is love-hate, as I have had some of their discs that are just manufactured badly and wouldn't even play, but then they do release some good titles at times, even if often the picture quality is bad. Most of the videoasia DVDs I have play. But I had that Martial Arts 10 Pack and that thing would barely play, and I had that 4 movie Bruce Lee thing that had Clones of Bruce Lee, and that thing wouldn't play right, and I tried them all on 2 different players. But just last night I watched The Ninja Hunt, and it was a decent widescreen, and a very good flick, so maybe Videoasia finally got their manufacturing problems fixed, as that was the worst problem with them I had.

Yeah, sometimes their releases are okay. I recently picked up 'Seven steps of Kung Fu' and the disc is fine. My "Invincible Armour' is also good picture-wise it's just the Insta-Action feature that kind of ruins it.

not many things piss me off more then some of them instaaction flicks.. maybe people drinking all the kool-aid and putting the picture in there so you go and pick it up thinking you're gonna get some good drank only to get a drop, a cricket in your room when trying to go to sleep, a pauly shore movie playing and you can't find the tv remote, and bob sagat thinking he's funny aggrivate me more then a flick that skips throughout the movie!
