Pic Help Needed Please!!!

I need to find out the name of the actress in the following pic. This pic was taken at Golden Harvest Studios in 1972. She may have been in 'Back Alley Princes' or someone may recognize her from a film around that time (1972/73) or seen her in Golden Movie News Mag from that time period etc. I know it's not a great shot but it's the best i can do. Any guesses are most welcome. Anything that can help me on this matter will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I did not have a chance to really look at the girl besides the angle shown. At first i thought it was
helen ma but then i noticed her nose and wavy hair and then that's when i realized it was Maria
Yi. It's Maria Yi and the film was probably the big boss.

The photo of Bruce and the thus far unknown woman looks like it was possibly taken on the set of Enter the Dragon from the look of Bruce's hairstyle.

I'd say Bruce's haircut is circa Game of Death, which puts the photo at about Autumn '72.

to help him recognize this girl here to the person who owns "bruce lee the divine wind" website.

I would be willing to make a wager with you Markgway $20.00 (just for fun) that this is Maria Yi
Dut. You dont have to come with any names or a girl you think it is. It's not neccesary but if
you can even come up with one it will help. You seem like a very smart man im sure you can
come up with someone.

Upon recieving notification/verification that this is either Maria Yi Dut or not i will pay you $20.00
or when you lose you will pay me. How's that?

If there are any more specifications you would like to include if you are up to the challenge then

Hm, well these sorts of things interest me because when it comes time to talk with someone or be
knowledgeable on a subject i think it's admirable in retrospect if the person took the time to edjucate
himself on any given matter. In this case we have an unknown actress. I collect the hong kong act-
ress photo cards and to tell you the truth it's my only ''HOBBY'' besides watching asian cinema.

Ive spent hundreds of dollars on those photos, and especially enjoy the fact that some of them are
signed. A lot of times the photo is unknown as in this case a lesser known actress and i myself send
them off to the sellers in hong kong as well as my freinds to help me identify 'actresses' in particular.

Just last week i sent 10 unknown's to a person on this forum who sends me a lot of photos. Being
a collector of so many magazines herself i look to people like her to help me because they are like
you and me enthusiasts.

Personally ive done all i could to help this man find the name of the actress and believe me i take
no offense when people dont believe me because even i am wrong. But in this case i believe i have
solved this case. And it's ok if you dont believe me however lets look at the evidence.

1) We know it's a girl who knew Bruce Lee, and that the picture was taken circa 1972. Game of
death. Bruce lee had very few girls that were in more than one of his movies One of them Was
Nora Miao (who i have no idea why he left to be with ''linda", really i dont) and the other Most
commonly known actress recurring / returning to the films of Bruce Lee was Maria Yi. Being that
Maria Yi resembles the girl in the photo in several ways (more than one) i has deduced that it was
Maria Yi.

I dont know why you guys are ONLY denying it's her and not giving another actress that it could
be but this is the case.

I look at her chin, and the way it goes up to her lips as well as look at the cheeks. The angle of
her head... Her wavy hair her eyes and especially her nose circumspectly and thats how i
came to the descision it's Maria Yi. Sherlock Holmes once said "Eliminate all other factors, and
the one which remains must be the truth."

If you cannot see the striking resemblance ok super ''case repopened'' but only for you because
seeing as how i am the only Inspector i have left the case solved.

The shape of her face and the height of her forehead is different, and her eyes are VERY different. I'm sure we all appreciate your diligence, but you don't seem to have convinced everyone of your theory. I really don't see how our failure to come up with a name makes your case any stronger.

I think the Sherlock Holmes quotation you were groping around for is "Whenever you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth." However, in order for this maxim to apply to the case in hand, we would have had to already eliminated as likely candidates every other actress in Asia between about 18-32 in 1972.

Actually, it's a very common mistake. Maria Yi, as it turns out, just has "one of those faces", and has been the cause of much confusion. To help prevent future incidents like these, I am working on a set of flashcards for the hard-of-understanding. They look something like this:

Thanks for all your responses. It is not Maria Yi as you've worked out. Here is a pic of her and Bruce in April 72 (only months before these pics were shot). These girls haven't been seen in any Bruce Lee films because these are casting sessions for Bruce Lee's Game of Death movie. Please check another shot out below. Different girl. Any guesses? regcognition. This time from the front. Her nose, eyes, eyebrows, teeth, cheeks AND jawline; The most
common points of regocnition are exactly the same, and to top it off she's with bruce lee again.

Thanks a lot for the caps Von. Robert Lee (Bruce's bro) said that's not Irene. He sung a duet with her in the 60s. Irene was a singer like him in HK so he knows her. But check these other pics out - she doesn't look fully Asian. More like half - simlar to Irene. What do you think?

That's interesting so greenbamboo you must be doing research for one of Robert Lee's many projects
he was kind enough to share the begginings of at the temple website. One of which was a long awaited
book about bruce lee and his life. If this is true i read that robert lee has stated publicy that the death of
Bruce Lee is believed to be in the tight nit circle of the lee family to be ''foul play'' not an accident.

In any event good luck. It's nice to see some photo's popping up if i were you greenbamboo i would ask
bey logan his e-mail is bey@dragondynasty.com about photos you do not end up finding more about.
Bey Logan is also purportedly one of few with rare and missing game of death footage.

As for the actress i would say she does strongly resemble Irene Ryder as was suggested earlier the
only other two girls i could possibly think they could be is Yang Pan Pan or Chia Ling both who started
there careers around 1972.

In any event the girl that bruce lee was screentesting obviously had some background or beggining of
martial arts training seeing as how she is dressed in fight type apparel. This would suggest that Bruce
Lee or someone in The Game of Death was supposed to fight a woman, possibly in the tower itself.

Im suprised it is not Irene Ryder an actress i have never heard of until now. It could be anyone but out
of the actresses known that i know she more resembles Yang Pan Pan aka Sharon Yeung.

I'm talking to my friend Dave Tadman (close friend of Robert's). I think that girl is half Asian and she looks like Irene Ryder IMO. I agree with you Chinatown Kid so i'm stumped.

Sharon Yeung was born in 1958 so she would only be 14 at the time of pics so it can't be her.

Chia Ling aka Judy Lee - possibly. Her first film 'Queen Boxer' was filmed in 1972 (same year as pics).

I've found a pic online of Au Yeung Pooi San aka Ouyang Pei Shan but this is from 1981. Have you got any pics of her from 1972? She was in 'The Black Belt' & 'Awaken Punch'. Does the one in bikini look a bit like her?

at this point, I know this won't help...but it's Irene Ryder. It's certainly not Yang Pan Pan or the half a billion other actresses that have been named here. I've seen said pics before, and they were identified at Irene on set of a "new Bruce Lee film." I'm a huge fan of Irene, even have some of her music around here somewhere. She is Eurasian born in Hong Kong and won a contest in 1966 where she was crowned the "Go-Go Queen of Hong Kong." She currently teaches singing there.

Being condesending is fun as long as you arent trully a bastard. I hate people like that i hate being
ugly. Sometimes people are pushed but it's still not right. In my opinion we should always be on the
look out to better ourselves.. Life can get really confusing when it doesnt have to be. People fade out
and give up under the hand of nonsense. We are stars it's our birthright, It's true each one of us has
power BEYOND belief. I hate lies they trap people down and binds them up. Whether they have had
the fortune of being properly cast or not. Covers their sight from trully knowing and even hearing...

I told DT to get in contact with Nora Miao about these girls. I can spot 3 different ones (one in dress, one in bikini, one in front of camera). One in front of camera definitely looks like Irene Ryder as quite a few of you point out. i've told him that info but he's not replied as yet - he said Robert said no but i don't know if he realizes that there's atleast 3 different girls in those casting sessions for GOD.
