I hate to harp on this subject, but I'm really not well-versed in this area of electronics. I found this site that has a sale on a whole system. I just wanted to get some opinions on whether this looked like a good deal. Thanks in advance for any info.

I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but many cheap no-name DVD players are Region Free right out of the box. I don't know what country you live in, but I live in Canada and I bought a cheap Digitron DVD player for 22 bucks and it plays everything-DVDs all regions,VCDs,NSTC and PAL. It's funny, because even the manual had information on region coding but they probably have to include that by law. Good luck

I'm from the states...i appreciate the info; i asked someone at electronics dept. at sears and they didn't have any idea what region coding was, lol. I do see alot of other brands advertised as region-free on these sites and at good prices too. I just want to make sure I can do HDMI hookup and that i can play all formats (dvd-r, dvd+r, etc.).

Are you looking at this mainly for the region free? There are a lot of players that are easy to hack. Check out http://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks for codes on various players. Philips are generally easy.

you won't get help from sears or any local stores. online is best bet. and as someone posted, the prices are good. let us know what you find!

You guys did definitely help...I was just wondering about this particular setup, if anyone thought it was a good deal package. I might order the Pioneer with the speaker system. Thanks.
