Do you mean movies that sucked but had awesome fights at the end? or just movies that were terrible the whole way through? If its the former:

Shaolin Drunken Monk - Terrible movie with an awesome end fight

Five Superfighters was pretty underwhelming but the final fight is one of the best ever

Coward Bastard was a terrible, terrible movie with a pretty good (but way too short) end fight. Yuen Wah got to show off acrobatic skills there.

Lady is The Boss had one of the best fights ive ever seen at the end but the rest of the movie was pretty dumb

My Lucky Stars

I might catch a bit of heat for this but i wasn't too fond of 5 Shaolin Masters until the awesome 20 minute fight at the end.

Shaolin Drunk Monkey - Godfrey Ho movies usually tend to be pretty bad (Blazing Ninja, anyone?) this was no exception, but in the end fight where you have Elton Chong and Mike Wong face off Eagle Han, you should expect this to be decent at best. I thought it was pretty good, and it made up for the movie itself, that and the intro fight.

I'll post some more when I can think of others:yociexp14:

I love the whole movie, so bad its good.

I don't know if I'd say its horrible but Operation Scorpio is fairly boring untill the end.

It`s quite boring indeed except moments Mr.Scorpio Kicks appear..those scenes are bliss:)

Ninja Holocaust. The whole movie is crap. Chan Wai Man looks decent, Cassanova looks good swinging his wild kicks around without any choreography, but then at the end the 2 meet up for one hell of an intense fight.

36 Shaolin Beads. Same thing, horrible movie, and then finally at the end there's a good fight. Though I remember more smoke bombs than actual kung fu exchanges.

Master Killers. Dreadful movie with a couple good fights, but the end is one of the best fights ever filmed.

Art of War aka Strike and Sword.

Shaolin Red Master

Demon Strike

Tiger vs Dragon

Thundering Mantis

Scorching Sun...

The Ming Patriots, good opening fight, but I was bored until the end fight.

Buddha Assassinator

I liked this movie a lot, especially the end fight, but the problem is the director I think. In the end fight in particular I remember some major problems. The students master does drunken style against the villain, or at least I thought he was going to. He does some amazing drunken style in Snake in the Monkey's Shadow, I don't know why he didn't do it in 5 Super Fighters. Can anyone explain why the hell he was posing like he was drunk and then didn't do drunken style? Also the villain getting killed pissed me off. I don't think the villain killed a single person the whole movie but then the good guys kill him?!?! I mean, he had a spear in his hands, he was an a-hole, but that was bad directing I thought. The villain shouldn't have been killed. It should have ended like a Lau Kar Leung movie. The final fight has some AWESOME choreography and editing, but I was disappointed when I finished the movie.

Sorry, just had to get that off my chest :28:

I loved the final fight as well. Unfortunately I do not have a good copy, so I didn't get a good impression of the movie as a whole, but what I saw, I liked. I never heard of Kuan Feng before this movie. After the movie, i loved him.

It's a training/fighting movie, it doesn't have anything going for it other than that. But that's fine for us fu fans that just like to watch some sick ass fights :17_003:

Yeah i agree, killing the bad guy the way they did really didnt fit the tone of the movie and was totally uncalled for. Lo Mar's stuff is only good for the fights and training sequences which is fine by me lol

Born Invincible.

Really? That movie had wicked fights the whole way through, specially that fight with Corey Yuen and Yuen Shun Yi. But it was one of the most ridiclous movies plot-wise, i loved how pretty much all the main characters got wiped out in the first hour lol.

Drunken Monk
07-31-2009, 07:14 PM
I don't remember that well, but I'm sure "36 Deadly Styles" is pretty awful up until the end fight.

I think "Dance of Death" with Angela Mao is another one.

I just remember thinking the movie sucked until the finale.

Not necessarily saying the other fights were bad or anything. Just that they obviously didn't pique my interest enough at the time.

The way I saw it Corrector was not able to accept being defeated in unarmed combat but took weapon(he did not kill his opponents in past) but that was too much and aimed to kill.and then students+drunk only played by his rules and gave him same treatment he wanted to do others...

Iron Fisted Monk.
Well, "suck" is an overstatement, I did enjoy the film. But I found most of it somewhat disapointing. The finale, however, was absolutely awesome.

Lol... that's one of my favourite Lau Kar-Leung films.

Not fair to mention a decent film like The Iron-Fisted Monk in this thread. It's for shitty films that have good endings only.

And Dragons Forever, JKL...? Wowsers!

DRAGONS FOREVER and IRON-FISTED MONK? Huh, what?! This has got to be the first time I read something by JKL that I disagreed with. Opinions differ of course, but I was just really surprised to see these two mentioned here.

Kung Fu Bob: The person to mention Iron-Fisted Monk - that would actually be me...;-)
Like I've written - it didn't exactly suck but I had expected a lot more. After all I'd heard, only the finale lived up to my expectiations...

Oh yeah, I did know that. I just worded my reply poorly so that it seemed like I was saying both films were jkl's choices. Sorry. Despite how it may appear, I do actually read other people's responses before I chime in. LOL.

Seems to me that some people don't quite grasp the point of this thread.

So I'll reiterate s-l-o-w-l-y for them.

Films that SUCK until the end.

NOT films that are a bit disapppointing.

Well then I can't think of a single one! Cuz I don't think any of the movies mentioned here, utterly and completely SUCK THE FAT ONE, and then suddenly, as by magic becomes a brilliant piece of filmmaking for the final reel! Actually, I don't think such a movie even excists!
