1: Anyone else seeing a huge vertical banner over this forum? It's been that way for a few days now.

2: About the site: I was looking for a review yesterday on kungfucinema.com, but I noticed it's not possible anymore to just look for a title alphabetically!? Why not? The new method is completely user-unfriendly and illogical.

I just applied a fix which should correct the problem with the vertical ad appearing and covering portions of the site. That was not intended.

As for the review index, I'm currently working on it but it will return under the Review menu shortly.

The Review Index can currently be found by clicking on "Reviews" and then "Film." On the page you'll see a temporary Reviews Index link. Eventually, you'll only need to click on Reviews and then Film to reach the index instead of using that link. I'm still working on it.

http://www.kungfucinema.com/category/reviews/film-reviews

The reason for moving the link around is that for some time we have effectively had two Film Review pages, the Index and the blog-style default located at the link above. I'm working on integrating the two and hopefully adding more functionality to make it easier to browse through the reviews and find whatever you're looking for.

Hi Mark,

First of all, thanks for fixing the banner. For a little while I thought I was the only one with that thing vertical cause no-one else seemed to have bothered complaining about it, but hey... I guess I bootkicked them all out into the open at once :P

2nd: Glad to hear you're still working on it, cause the current method of looking up a review just seems .... very user-unfriendly.

Let's say I want to read the Twins Effect review (I don't btw). In the current system I kinda have to 'guess' on which review page that is, so you need 5-6 (maybe more) 'clicks' to pretty much get to the list where the 'T-reviews' are.
Obviously, just having it the old way, where you had the whole alphabet to choose from at the top, was much easier: Click on 'T', and up came a complete list with all movies starting with a T.

I'm pretty sure you understand what I mean ;)

What caused you to stray away from that system btw!?

That index has served me well and could continue to. I have two problems though. One, the main site has a built in function that lists reviews and this can cause confusion. Two, the index is a custom script that is not actually integrated with the main site even though it may look like it is. This means it takes extra time after I publish a review to manually update the index. I want to automate the process to save time and also ensure that there is only one review list/index on the site.

The trick is getting the built-in review display page to mimic the index and that's what I'm still working on. If it doesn't work to my satisfaction I'll stick to using the index until I come up with a better solution.

... but in the past KFC.com DID have an alphabetic system, instead of the current system, right!? I remember it being much easier to just find the review I needed.

I see what you're talking about. I'll see if there is a way to add that in as an option.
