I just read in the New York Daily News that Mark Dacascos, the famous martial artist who is today known as the Chairman of Iron Chef America, will be one of the contestants on the upcoming season of Dancing with the Stars. Perhaps with his martial arts background, he may be able to impress dance fans...we'll see.

My wife and I watch this show, so I was glad to hear Mark was going to be a part of it. I'll bet he either wins or is in the top 3 in the end.

I just thinks its sad, you have to rely on a reality show to bring your career back. whats next I'm a celebrity get me the hell outta here? like Lou Diamond Phillips. this guy has skillz, someone needs to bring him back. they should ask Don " the Dragon" Wilson to dance to .

Yeah, I read about this on his Myspace page. I don't usually watch those kind of shows, but I'll probably download it to check it out.
He must surely have a huge advantage, after all he's used to learning long sequences of moves, plus his flexibility will help too.
I also think he'll be a hit with the ladies

LOL Don't let Julie Condra hear that (Mark's wife and former Wonder Years actress...they met on Crying Freeman)

I didn't think Julie Condra was in Wonder Years. What character did she play?

She played Madeline Adams:tongue:, the tall blonde who liked Kevin. I kept asking why Kevin didn't just go for her instead of Winnie Cooper. To me there was no comparison.
I hate reality shows like Dancing with the Stars. But with Mark on it I might just watch.

Ah yes....and great poing about going for her instaed of Winnie Cooper.
I agree I'm not the biggest fan of the show but I'll show support for Dacascos for sure. I hope he make a few more classics like DRIVE before his movie career is over. :squigglemouth:

I'd only watch the show if the whole season was dedicated to former martial arts movie stars doing a little dance. Rothrock, Seagal, Norris, etc... battling it out on the dance floor. It would be hilarious. Then they could do M.A. demos at the beginning of every other episode. :)

That would not be hilarious, that would be very bad!
My wife and I are fans of So You Think You Can Dance, so I'll have to dvr DWTS to see Mark. Didn't know he was involved with Iron Chef America either.

Mark's great on ICA...the way he performs when he introduces the "secret ingredient" and the famous "Allez cuisine" line...not to mention his introduction when he does a series of backflips and has that shit-eating grin on his face....classic LOL

That would ROCK! I'd watch it. And, when it got down to the last two dance teams, they had to fight to win so the m/a person would have to teach their dance instructor some stuff.

I really hope this boosts Dacascos popularity, especially if he wins it. Chuck Liddel is going to do it too. It might be fun to see Dacascos, Liddel I don't see being a good dancer, but this just isn't my thing. I can't see myself ever watching this show. But that idea to have martial arts actors like Norris and Seagal is brilliant. I would be glued to the TV.

I felt the same way. I only watched this as a form of compromise, as my wife often watches stuff that she doesn't think she'll like, but that I want to see (tonight it was THE CHASER- cool movie). I was surprised when I actually enjoyed it. I'm not a dancer, so it was interesting to see how other people without any training each approached the challenge. You might want to try one episode Morgoth- you never know... you might dig it.

Basically, he was either the best, or a close second out of all the stars dancing. He did a great job, and showed tremendous potential. It was fun seeing him do something different, though he was instructed by the judges not to keep adding kung fu moves into his routines as he did this first time. LOL :xd:

Bah humbug to the judges :xd:
They should use some Brazilian music, then he could bust out some capoeira on their asses

Way to support our inside MA guy King!
The big shock in last night's performances by the women, was that among the many tall, glamorous models, actresses, and atheletes, the shining star was... Kelly Osbourne! Yes, Ozzy's little girl, once known primarily for being a bitchy teenage girl with a foul mouth and a truckload of attitude, has grown up. She was friendly and gracious to the other dancers, and seemed to have really matured. But most shocking of all- was how beautiful, graceful, even elegant she looked when she danced. Who'd of ever guessed that Kelly would outshine someone like supermodel, Sports Illustrated swimsuit icon Kathy Ireland?! But she did. Bravo!

Haha, well isn't life just full of surprises. I would have expected her to be one of the first voted off, but yeah, she does seem to have grown up in the last couple of years.
She was on UK radio recently and she was gushing over Mark, saying how amazing he was and how he could jump about 6ft in the air...I think she's smitten haha :xd:

I recently mentioned to Cynthia Rothrock about Mark being in DWTS, and asked her if she'd ever do something like that. Here's her reply:
"Well funny you should ask. I always tell Sky (her daughter) I am going to be on next season. She said the only one I could dance with was Mark Ballas dad, you know the old guy. When I heard Mark was going to be on I was so excited, because I thought I would have a chance of getting on since our movie careers are similar, and my competition was a lot more profound. I didn't know he did the Iron Chef, but hey who knows...Chuck Liddell is on. So maybe you all should write the show and say they need a female martial artist on, Cynthia Rothrock...but I would be so nervous, because ballroom dancing would be way out of my comfort zone"

That would be great to see Cynthia compete.
Looks like Aaron Carter, Mya, and Donnie Osmond are the ones for Mark to beat. I think the judges have been a bit hard on him, but it's only been a couple of weeks so anything can still happen. The show is rigged big time anyway, which is why I don't usually watch it.

The problem is in the UK we're several days behind the US showings.
You guys see it Mon/Tue, we see it Fri.
I would never vote for someone without seeing their dance for that week.
Have to say Donny Osmond is shaping up well as a contender.
