Shing Fui On has died..

Woke up this morning and checked Facebook to discover from a status post by Mike Leeder the very sad news that legendary Hong Kong actor Shing Fui On has passed away.

According to wikipedia he would have been about 54 years old.. too young and too soon..

One of my favourite actors who makes up almost half my film collection.. watched him alongside the likes of Danny Lee, Stephen Chow, Chow Yun Fat etc for many years. Always enjoyed his tough guy/pissed off character, never got tired of it.

Was very happy to see him on screen again in "Bodyguard: New Beginning" and was asking Mr Leeder if he would be doing an interview with him.. sad huh..

Wikipedia has been updated to notify he died of "nasopharyngeal carcinoma" (a form of throat cancer).

Rest in peace Mr Shing Fui On..

Oh Snap! The gangster from "the killer". This guy had the look of a bad MoFo, he really played his parts well. Damn cigarettes have claimed the lives of many of our beloved HK actors. I guess its cool to smoke in HK. Anyway rest in peace Shing Fui On. :sad:

Sad news, always enjoyed his bad guy work, and enjoyed him a lot as the aging cop in To Live and Die in Tsimshatsui.

With this passing as well as that of Leslie Cheung, Anita Mui and Lam Ching Ying it means the days of my teenage years watching all these great stars are indeed long gone and I'm getting old.

He was a truly great character actor - seems like only yesterday I was introduced to him, "Big Stupid", as he was affectionately known.

It's a big loss for HK cinema.
