I don't really care about super heroes and comicbook movies, but Disney is PURE EVIL!
An entity passing itself off as something so good and wholesome has to be evil.... it just has to!

Well, here's what those who have concern should know. Marvel currently still has contracts with other film companies with their films, i.e. Iron Man 2 and Paramount, Fox and Wolverine, etc. One those deals are officially completed, THEN Disney will retain ownership of those properties.
I noticed you have concern about Punisher lilippa. I got this strange feeling that like some of the other Disney-owned companies, i.e. Miramax, Disney may just let Marvel run as a subdivision. But that's only spec right now. Guess the only thing we can do at this point is wait and see.

You might wanna saddle up for some watered down, G rated super hero flicks!

It's a smart move for Marvel given their transition into big-budget filmmaking. They'll need the long-term backing of a giant like Disney to keep pumping out pricey superhero pics like THE AVENGERS, also to absorb loses from potential misfires. They're doing movies on Ant-Man, Luke Cage and Doctor Strange to name a few. They may soon find that some of these characters only have a niche audience.

do you think the disney owned miramax will have anything to do with marvel's grittier characters, possibly giving the film an r rating?

The Punisher is still owned (movie rights) by Lionsgate. It's one of those rights that where sold before Marvel films. Granted the last one (which was amazing) tanked.

I agree! Punisher: Warzone kicked so much ass! It's too bad most people view it as a really bad B-Movie that's inferior to the first Punisher film which is simply not true IMO.
As far as the whole Disney buying Marvel thing I think Marvel shouldn't have sold out. Disney pretty much sucks nowadays and brings everything else down.

Right, which means that once that contract with Lionsgate expires, Disney will own the rights of The Punisher.
As for your post jiujitsu, I got a hunch that Disney will let Marvel keep the name as a subsidary, meaning that like Miramax and Hollywood Pictures, they will be allowed to continue to make R-rated fare.
Fox is somewhat taking advantage of their contract as they announced they are re-booting Fantastic Four before their contract expires.
well i hate that disney bought marvel...
the good:
bigger budget for superhero movies
pixar animated superhero movies
more superhero movies
the bad:
( and i hope it never happens)
censorhip to the comics
they will probably make it more kid friendly............

I think that is similar to the contract that Lionsgate has. I wouldn't be surprised if they do another cheapie just to keep the rights (though not something like Roger Corman's Fantastic Four).

It's too bad that a studio such as Universal didn't buy Marvel. It would certainly fare better with the Universal image of comic book feature films. It's difficult to picture a studio such as Disney, long associated with kids and family entertainment, to release Marvel product.
