Director Roland Emmerich announced at a press conference for his latest film "2012" that a story has been developed for a sequel to his 1996 hit film Independence Day.
While he hopes to have the film ready, only one obstacle practically remains: Will Smith. Emmerich and producer Dean Devlin are keen on bringing Smith back, but producers feel Smith's pay may not be exactly the right idea.
So, needless to say, Independence Day 2 is still in the developmental stages and Emmerich has pretty much stated in a way that he is NOT going to the do the film WITHOUT Will Smith.
