More importantly, is the original Cantonese mono track there?

Yeah, but we need it to be the genuine mono version, something we won't know for sure until someone's watched the disc

Those caps aren't impressive.
The colours look off.

the caps look a bit too red IMO

And on top of that, they do not look too good on sharpness & detail departments, also :(
Tigerstyles, do the caps truly reflect the image quality of the release? I remember I once made a couple of caps of a movie using WinDVD and the caps looked worse than the reality, maybe this could be a similar case?
I´ll get it anyway ´cause 16:9 is an improvement from the old HK DVD, and this one is not on the Joy Sales list I think, so it will be best version available...

LAST HURRAH is on Joy Sales remastered list.

Aren't those captures from 'DVD Reviewer':\ ?
They do look awfully reddish, although DVD Reviewer's captures always look weird.
The language is reportedly Mandarin, not Cantonese (can't trust Play.com).

Should be Cantonese.

The original Cantonese mono is present. There's also Canto 5.1 and English 5.1.
I'll sort out some screencaps in a bit.

Ups! My bad. Anyway, I´ve entered that site and checked other screenshots they did from other HKL editions like Odd Couple, Warriors Two, Twinkle Twinkle, and the screenshots also look quite bad, worse than the editions really can be seen, so I guess we can´t judge by them. Conforted by this, I´ve just preordered it, will post about my impressions on video quality as soon as I get it...
BTW, this is one of kf films I think can gain with PAL
"speedup" (I always thought a couple of the fights were a tad slow on NTSC...

I've never noticed PAL speedup. Some NTSC video can look 'slow' if not processed correctly
DVD Reviewer is a terrible site

Agree, Reviewer caps are below par, and I'm not keen on their text content either. If anyone has this DVD they should supply their own caps.

is the english dub a new one or is it the original golden harvest one?
Markgway

The skintones look reddened on the 2nd cap (in the restaurant) but strangely none of the others - at least not in any obvious way. Might pick this one up then. Oh, and is the Cantonese Mono actual mono and not some downmix?. It's very important.

I have just received it, and I have to tell screencaps do little justice to video quality, which I think it´s great. Like HKL Warriors Two, or a tad better (that´s very good for a classic kf film, IMO). Not appreciable reddening that I noticed, but I need to check it more throughly.
The familiar faces extra is totally worthless (IMO). Just fightin´scenes of Lee Hoi Sang from other HKL releases (Magnificent Butcher, Young Master, Project A I & II, Knockabout and Tower of Death), and same for Damian Lau (Zu and Duel to the Death).
Great release for me! :D

Brilliant film, the only gripe I have is that on the subs they have fcuked the names of the characters up, Sleeping Wizard is now Sleeping Buddha (this name is not too bad), Green is now Greeno (sounds like a character from Grange Hill!) and the worst one is Pray is now called Let it Be! what kind of a name is that for a villain!

I have the DD version of this and the interview feature with Lee Hoi San is pretty good. A very modest man, and looks so different now, body wise. He looks smaller, as if he's shrinking with age.
Great interview. :D
