Good stuff. I wish he would have talked a little about "True Legend" but it's nice to see him expressing his dislike for "flying" and that he prefers more realistic choreography.

Thank you for posting this great interview. I hope he is with us for many years to come, and continues his amazing work.

Interesting interview. I like what he says about Donnie Yen, how he dare not act like a big shot around him. That's great.
Does anyone really think there will be a kung fu film wave one day though? I can't see it happening.

All in how you look at it. HK as a talent pool has been dying. With the way things are now, money is all in the mainland. The HK talent will have to work and many times, film in the mainland. The cantonese lang big movies may come to be a very big minority as it has already begun. It's not about HK anymore. It's about the mainland.
HK hasn't known what it wants to do for a very long time now. The audience there doesn't fiend for action and are satisfied with whatever comes on tv. They like the Hollywood movies. Why should anyone train for something that no one from there cares to see?
There is plenty of trained talent to be found but they all complain the same way all of the time. It's tired. There are many Peking opera trained men and women in Taiwan and the mainland. Many. No one e-v-e-r mentions that. It's always wushu this and wushu that. Between the opera trained and the wushu trained, you have tons of talent to pull from, from kids to older. Any of these older peking opera trained ADs out there could find trained talent easily(Sammo, Woo Ping, Siu Tung, Yuen Kwei, Kwok Choi, Tung Wei etc). From there you find out who has onscreen talent(looks, acting, fighting) and who your stunt people/doubles will be. It is that easy. They would rather complain.
Remember they used to go to other countries to get talent as well. They went to Korea and Japan and Thailand and got people from the US. They aren't really trying to make anything like that, so they don't really care. They'd rather complain in interviews.
