First off, hi everyone! I've been lurking on this forum for a little while, fascinating stuff!
Anyway, I stumbled on a thread from a while back where someone mentioned martial arts sound effects and about three million posted to say they were desperate for them. It just so happens that I've been gathering and compiling an archive of martial arts sound effects for my own personal use for quite some time. If anybody is interested, I've hosted them up for you - but please be gentle to my bandwidth!
1) 'Realistic' Sound FX pack (http://www.drdirtysurgery.com/socky/sounds/ma_sfx_real.zip) (841 kb)
These were largely ripped from Ong-Bak and are best used for action that is meant to be realistic and streetsy.
2) 'Old Skool' Sound FX pack (http://www.drdirtysurgery.com/socky/sounds/ma_sfx_oldskool.zip) (351 kb)
Old seventies' kung fu sounds for a good old-skool vintage feel.
3) 'Cheesy' Sound FX pack (http://www.drdirtysurgery.com/socky/sounds/ma_sfx_cheesy.zip) (349 kb)
Bog-standard effects that are best used only for spoofs.
4) 'The Matrix' Sound FX pack (http://www.drdirtysurgery.com/socky/sounds/ma_sfx_matrix.zip) (898 kb)
A pack of the distinctive action sounds used in modern American action films such as the Matrix. These were ripped from the computer game Enter the Matrix. Most of the hit sounds have whooshes attached to them, which I couldn't do much about, but with good editing they work just fine. Just be wary that these are stereo, and might sound a bit stuck-on when added to a mono camcorder feed.
5) 'Hard Punch' Mini-Sound FX pack (http://www.drdirtysurgery.com/socky/sounds/ma_sfx_hardpunch.zip) (167 kb)
Not a full pack, just a couple of punch hits. These are samples best used for 'fun' action and comedies (and can be heard in some Jackie Chan films).
All the above packs are WinZipped to keep them together.
I hope you like them, and I hope they can save a few Internet movies from the curse of cack soundtrack editing!
