Help identify a film from my Childhood

I have no idea what movie it's from but I have a vivid memory of a film scene and I'd love some help identifying it. For a while I thought it was from one of the "American Ninja" movies but I don't know. It's not really a whole scene, just a part where the hero in the movie is in a stairwell... (i think it's a stairwell) and does some type of movement with his hands that he learned earlier in the film and suddenly after a flash of smoke he's in full ninja garb with weapons and everything. Hope that's enough for someone to go on, and thanks for any help!

Sounds like American Ninja 2 to me as well...

Definitely American Ninja 2, Last 10-20 minutes of the movie in the stairwell and they show flashbacks to American Ninja 1 when he is learning from his master and then BANG, smoke, he has full Ninja outfit on.
