It is a better film than "Game Of Death" - which is not difficult really considering what Hollywood did to it. Hwang Jang Lee is great as the villain and Yuen Biao doubles for most of the acrobatic moves in the final fight.

Last night I pulled out my Ultimate Dragon Collection on Videoasia. I had only watched one film off it so far... Kung Fu Superman(if I recall the title right). Well last night I watched Return of the Fist of Fury, with Bruce Pak.

Well, the movie was OK. About Korean/Japanese conflict, where the heroes brother was killed as a patriot, and then he came and took his place. Action scenes were OK, I thought. The dub was standard for that time. The girl was really hot though.

Worst thing about it was the very soft image old VHS pan and scan transfer.

Not a high rewatchablity factor... but who is that hotty?

Cold Blooded Murder;

The movies stars Bruce Le, CWM and Carter Wong. The movies is about a crazy cold blooded murder that kills prostitutes. The killer is CWM. Carter Wong and Bruce Le are police officers and they have to bring this fool to court, dead or alive ;)

Nah but it was actually a very entertaining modern day Le flick, I enjoyed it. Funny thing was also that Kong Do and Bolo Yeung appeard in the beginning of the movie getting their asses beaten by Bruce and then they have almost nothing to do with the rest of the movie except that they appear in the endfight again :D

Favourite quote from the movie when the badboys don't get as they want: "It's that damn Bruce again"

I would give it 4/5 stars after my Bruceploitation standards :)

Fist Of Fury 2

For me, this is hands down the best Bruceploitation film ever made and I'm sure most people will find that statement debatable.
Firstly, it does a pretty incredible job of keeping the feel of the first film, mainly because many of the cast reprised their roles for this film and the set design is actually pretty damn good, including a loving recreation of the Ching Wu school.

Secondly, Bruce Li does an excellent job as Chen Zhens angry revenge driven brother, Chen Shen.
He remains calm and composed throughout, but at time loses his rag and dishes out some kung fu punishment.
The rest of the cast fill their respective roles perfectly, including the cowardly japanese interpretor and his boss Miyamoto, played by Lo Lieh.
The fight scenes in this film are also very good and in places very brutal and hardhitting, including the scene in which Miyamoto's henchmen attack and cripple a group of chinese.
A variety of weapons are on show including swords, spears, staffs and obviously nuncakus.

All in all, I personally think that it has everything you need in a good kung fu film, good action scenes, good cast, good plot and a good set design.
Also worth noting is that there is a lot of good camera work in this which is completely lost in the fullscreen version of the film so try and get a widesreen print if possible. The images in this review are from a custom widescreen DVD which is in 2.10:1 aspect ratio.
All in all, an excellent entry into the bruceploitation genre with no major flaws, at least compared to most Bruce Lee clone films.

Rating: 4.5/5

Well it's actually Bruce Li, and the story has nothing at all to do with anything that happened to the real Bruce Lee in this typically action packed Bruceploitation. The AKA's are almost endless and include "Story Of The Dragon", "A Dragon's Story", "Bruce Li's Jeet Kin Do" and "He's A Legend, He's A Hero" to name a few. There is even a UK release that has the simple title of "The Bruce Lee Story" and includes a nunchuka sequence cut from but available as an extra on the rental version I saw. What makes this a bit more interesting is the familiar faces in the cast. Carter Wong, Roy Horan and Paul Wei Ping Ao (A regular in Bruce Lee's films.) are all fine, but for me it is the appearance of the magnificent Hwang Jang Lee as a fighter brought in to teach Bruce a lesson by the baddies that makes this well worth seeing.
This film is not Bruce Lee:The True Story. It's actually Story of The Dragon. The film BL:TTS, is also known as Bruce Lee: The Man, The Myth, to this day, the best screen treatment of Lee's life, and dispite the usual stretching of the truth, the film does have myth in it's title.

I did say that it had several AKA's in my comments. It was the UK version available for rental that I saw, and it did have the title I used.

Information with the rental is mostly wrong. Many of the UK releases on DVD have different titles to the one it may have originally had. It gets a bit frustrating. Sometimes the same film with have two versions available under different titles.

I own a copy of "Bruce Lee:The Man, The Myth".

Lovefilm even have this down as a documentary. :( It is a better film by far, but it certainly distorts any real events in Bruce Lee's life.

Enter the Fat Dragon 肥龍過江
Cast: Sammo Hung Kam Bo洪金寶, Peter Yang Kwan楊群, Meg Lam Kin Ming, Leung Kar Yan 梁家仁, Fung Fung馮馮, Lee Hoi San李海生, Roy Chiao Hung乔宏, Fung Hak On馮, Ankie Lau Heung Ping, Luk Chu Sek.
Director: Sammo Hung Kam Bo.
Action: Fung Hak On, Huang Ha, Sammo Hung Kam-Bo.

Ah Lung (Sammo Hung Kam-Bo 洪金寶) is a pig farmer, a bit of a country bumpkin like Bruce Lee’s (李振藩, 李小龍) character in Way of the Dragon (猛龍過江) and he also dresses and acts similar to Bruce’s character, he is not quiet Bruce Lee clone but more a fan of Bruce’s. He goes to the city by a boat to working at his uncle's restaurant, but when he arrives, he soon finds himself defending off a gang of thugs who are causing trouble in the restaurant but fighting them only makes the matter worse than ever. Later he finds that the same gang is going to kidnap a woman he works with.
An interesting moment is when he ends up on a film set and fights a Bruce clone and this clone over doing it a bit and then Sammo ends up do some of the best on screen Bruce cloning without actually trying to be Bruce but a fan and says “Bruce Lee” his “hero.”The end fights start first with Lung fighting Lee Hoi San李海生 who is playing a black man which is probably meant to be a bit like a Kareem Abdul-Jabbar clone he also fights white guy probably meant be like a Chuck Norris clone but he’s a boxer instead of Karate fighter, and Leung Kar Yan 梁家仁 plays a Kung Fu fighter but with his trademark beard he kind of looks like the Italian who says “mama mea” in Way of the Dragon.

Contents good fights from the opening with an against the red style at the start with appearance from a few well know Hong Kong actors and stuntmen such as Yuen Biao元彪, Mars火星 and Meng Hoi孟海 in this against the red. Also in a typical Sammo style of comedic moments partially the bus scene. Some of the best on screen Bruce Lee impersonations.

Ninja Strikes Back 4/6

-First of all.....there's only 2 ninja scenes in it ;)

-This was one of Sakatas final films & imo looks a bit tired......he prolly never saw it in cinemas before he died.

-My fav of Le's films.....those I've seen anyway.

With a budget of mere 50k I'd say they get much out of it : Rome , Paris & Hong Kong......this is Bruce Le's version of Way of the Dragon ;)

Wang Jang Lee does a fine job as Le's friend who goes over to the dark side.

Bolos cameo was pointless though.....at least give him 5 min fight scene

Bruce Le is prolly my favorite imitator......he's much better in action scenes than Bruce Li ;)
