I'm around a third of the way through Scott's book and I can heartily recommend this to pretty much everyone on here - unless, for some reason, you might not like lots of action, martial arts, interesting characters, a deep story and a fully realised world.

So, if you're looking for a darn good read this Xmas, or you know someone who does, then BUY THIS BOOK!!

Thanks, Karlos. I truly appreciate that, Can't wait to hear your thoughts once you've completed it.

A 4th review has come in.

I have the wonderful opportunity to share my review of this timeless book. I count it an honor to know Scott Blasingame and his family on a personal level. His wife Dawn once told me that this book was a dream of his for many years, and I must say that his dream has become a reality in a book for the ages. This is a book for everyone. One of love, betrayal, flights and fights of fancy. A good author can take your imagination on a rollercoaster ride full of ups and downs and unexpected twist, this book is definately that vehicle. There has been a lot said about how the author chose to end the book, read for yourself, and let us hear your opinion. The world is not always how we want it to be, not even in a land of make believe. Well done!!
This is from the mom of one of my daughter's former kindergarten classmates. I never knew she was such an avid sci-fi/fantasy reader until she informed my wife she had bought the book and was reading it a couple of months back. It's surprising because I never would've thought this book would appeal to someone like her. Cool beans!

I've had 3 more reviews posted in a little over a week.

Kudos to Scott on his first publication! I am relatively new to this genre, and this was an enjoyable offering. The storyline is well planned and kept me coming back to find out "What happens next?" Because I do not practice martial arts I could not completely engage in or enjoy reading the highly detailed fight scenes. But the storyline itself and a couple of wicked twists made me a fan of this novel. Looking forward to the next installment in the series!

This was such a great book! It is an awesome love story, and the fight scenes are so descriptive I could see every move in my head. Scott has such an imagination with the different types of people in the story and how they live, it is just amazing. I kept thinking to myself what a great movie it would make. I was shocked at the ending, but totally understand why it had to end the way it did. I found myself looking foward to the next chance I would get to open the book up again. I recommend this book to everyone, no matter what type of book you normally read. I don't know how anyone would not enjoy it as much as I did! Bring on the next book Scott, I am waiting!
This one showed up this morning.

The Warrior-Son is an excellent read from a new author. I really think this book has the potential to become a series that I for one will read.

Thorn is the last warrior of his tribe, the Creek, who became a slave as a child trained in the martial arts & chosen as protector for Tara, the daughter of the Chief of the Kudzu tribe. It is a life of service that Thorn relishes as it gives him a chance to be w/his true love, Tara. He is her sworn protector but is motivated by more than just duty, he is motivated by unrequited love for her. When Tara is kidnapped, Thorn has his chance to win his freedom but he undertakes this arduous journey that not only brings him face to face w/his past but closer to true love. He goes on a quest & must fight to save her.

The martial arts fight scenes are very well written & thought out. If you have ever done martial arts or are just well versed in them you will appreciate his attention to to detail. The fight sequences are highly detailed w/spinning back kicks that will have you "seeing" it in your head as you read.

Another aspect of the book I quite enjoyed is the friendships of Thorn & Tara whom they have to rely on throughout the book. They are imaginative & prove to Thorn that he has allies in this world, who will help him fight to save Tara. I actually think that each of these friends could have their own books where Scott could expand his growing world of 12 inch tall warriors.

This freshman effort has several unexpected twists that I did not see coming. This book had me on the edge of my seat ignoring all else to see how everything & everyone turned out.

Highly recommend this book & can't wait to read the next book in the series!!
Um....Santa happen to bring anyone a Kindle Fire for Xmas?

Last Saturday (Feb. 2nd) was the Local Author Expo at the downtown Birmingham Public Library in B'ham, Alabama. (Have a couple of photos but can't seem to get them to upload here.)

As a 1st time author, I thought I'd give it a try. Glad I did. It was a really good, encouraging experience and a boost of confidence. I was a bit (ok, ok, alot) apprehensive going in, especially considering the facts that (A) I am not a mover and a shaker, and (B) my display was rather simplistic compared to some of the others. (I had books, a blow-up of the cover, a binder with the Amazon reviews received so far, and free bookmarks {a big hit} with info to the links.) But here's what I found to be interesting regarding that....

First: I must give honor where it is due and that is to the fantastically talented fella who did the cover art for me: Kung Fu Bob! I can honestly say that the smartest thing I did (other than actually writing the book) was getting him to do the artwork.

I had the cover enlarged to an 11" x 17" frame (wish I'd gone bigger). It caught everyone's attention. No one passing by did not, at the least, slow down to take a better look. Many came back to look again, some more than once. I saw no other cover art there that was anywhere near as intriguing as his. Without a doubt, I'm sure it was the contributing factor to people actually stopping to check out the book which led to....

Second: those who checked out the book were surprised at its size. Honestly, at over 650 pages, it was the thickest book I saw at the event. Due to that, interested persons would inquire as to how long it took to write and edit it, which led them to want to know exactly....

Third: what was the book about. And what astounded me was that they were genuinely interested when I told them. It fascinated them. I sold 5 copies and was sort of dumbstruck each time I did so. (One of the sales was to a 12 yr old young man who turned out to be the son of an independent publisher a few tables down from me.) 2 people said they were getting an ebook and another said she would order it when she got back home...to Texas. (Of the authors situated all about me, I didn't notice any of them make any sales throughout the day.)

I met lots of super-nice people and maybe made some contacts. Looking forward to next year already.

Hey brother, way to go- making your dreams a reality and doing what many of us would like to do, but have never tried to do. I'm so glad you had a good time and I appreciate your comments regarding the cover art.

Just to let you know, believe it or not, you actually did pretty well with sales. When I was the art director for the cool little publishing company Strider Nolan we went to a huge book expo in New York City. There were thousands of people there, we had four or five titles published at the time (we brought several extremely heavy cases of each book ), and we only sold under a dozen books. I don't think the tables to either side, nor the ones across from us made any sales, or maybe 1 or 2 books at the most. It's more of a window shopping experience for people and mostly to "get your name out there". So thumb's up man!

This thread missed my attention, it's been a while since I read a book and the brain needs a jog(you know, use it or lose it) so I'll pick this up from a fellow Kung Fu enthusiast, may take a bit to read it.

Great artwork KFB, love the layout! ShaOW!linDude you should get a banner printed out from a sign shop for your next expo.

Thanks, Tosh!!!! I truly appreciate the support and hope you won't be disappointed. Look forward to hearing your thoughts about it. Feel free to pm me if you want.

Yeah, definitely getting a banner done next time. That was one of the 1st things I noticed that a few folks had. Also, I may go for a larger size display print, too. Thought about getting bags for purchases but a couple of people who stopped by said they'd seen someone carrying the book around after a purchase, so scratch that idea. That's free advertising!
