Is Shaolin vs. Wu-Tang a Shaw Bros movie? I always assumed it was, based on the cast and when it was made, but I've seen a lot of Shaw filmographies where it wasn't listed. Then, when I started thinking about it, all the versions of it I've ever seen start really abruptly, so I never saw the Shaw intro/logo before it started. I just assumed it got cut off.

Short answer: Nope.
Long answer: filmed on Shaw lots by Shaw director Lau Kar Leung and Shaw actors, but produced and I think distributed via Lau's own film company. Did he do any other productions via that company, or was it some kind of tax write-off? :) KFS |

Thanks. That's what I was afraid of.
What are the odds we'll ever see a remastered version of it? I was really hoping it was a Shaw movie so we'd get a Celestial/IVL release. I was starting to worry it wasn't a Shaw flick since I haven't seen one by now. |

KFS is 100% correct - SB had a few co's under it's belt purely for tax evasion purposes.
If memory serves, wasn't SvWT a "Red Sun" production? A fair few films were shot at SB studios, by SB and put out by "other" companies. Standard practice in HK/China, I've been told!! ;) |

I believe SvsWT was produced by "Hing Fat" studio.

Hopefully some other company like Fortune Star picks it up and puts out a remastered DVD.
In the meantime, I know it's not much of a consolation, but you'll find my 94 second version of Shaolin vs Wu-Tang here: Shaolin vs Wu-Tang 94 second version:lol |
