The final trailer for Oxide and Danny Pang’s digital effects-filled sequel to THE STORM RIDERS has been released. Aaron Kwok and Ekin Cheng reprise their roles in THE STORM WARRIORS as super-powered swordsmen “Cloud” and “Wind” respectively, who join forces to defend China from an invading warlord. Nicholas Tse, Kenny Ho, Charlene Choi and Simon Yam co-star in the fantasy actioner which arrives in Chinese theaters on December 17.

THE STORM WARRIORS is one several high-profile Chinese-language films coming out at the end of the year and it’s the only one to feature elaborate CGI effects. The film and is predecessor are both based on the “Fung Wan” manhua (comic book) series by Ma Wing-shing.
Released in 1999, THE STORM RIDERS was Hong Kong’s first major CGI effects film. As there hasn’t been many digital effects films from the territory since and considering that such eye candy films tend to travel well across borders, this is a significant release that Universe is pushing heavily overseas. It has already sold to numerous markets in Asia, Australasia, Europe, and the Mediterranean.
