I’m all for accessibility when it comes to getting entertainment to the masses but this news may be taking the idea a bit far. It’s been announced that PumpTopTV has partnered with MovieSet to begin showing behind-the-scenes movie clips on the PumpTopTV network which serves media content on LCD screens to customers at over 12,000 gas pumps in the U.S. One of the films to be featured will be Gordon Chan’s upcoming video game-to-movie actioner KING OF FIGHTERS.
Chances are this will be the same or similar footage that can already be found by visiting MovieSet directly. If they end up showing saucy footage of Maggie Q, Bernice Liu, Monique Ganderton, or Françoise Yip fighting in slinky outfits we may see a rise in gas pump-related mishaps.
Based on this news I can already envision a future right out of BLADE RUNNER where high-tech blimps mounted with digital displays float above cities while playing trailers and behind-the-scenes clips for the latest DTV MMA or live-action fighting video game movie.
