Dragon Dynasty’s ‘Legend of the Black Scorpion’

Arriving on DVD today from Genius Products and The Weinstein Company’s Dragon Dynasty label is LEGEND OF THE BLACK SCORPION (aka THE BANQUET), director Feng Xiaogang’s visually stunning wuxia adaptation of Shakespeare’s Hamlet.

The film was Hong Kong’s entry in the 2006 Academy Awards and features some of China’s top A-list talent including actress Zhang Ziyi (MEMOIRS OF A GEISHA), Oscar-winning composer Tan Dun (CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON) and the dazzling action direction of Yuen Wo-ping (FEARLESS).

Dragon Dynasty’s Two-Disc Ultimate Edition DVD comes with audio commentary from Hong Kong cinema expert Bey Logan, interviews with Feng Xiaogang and Zhang’s co-star Daniel Wu, two behind-the-scenes featurettes, and trailers. The disc is priced at $24.95.
