Stephen Chow’s ROYAL TRAMP (1992) and ROYAL TRAMP 2 (1992) arrive on region 1 DVD this week courtesy of The Weinstein Company’s Dragon Dynasty label in The ROYAL TRAMP Collection 2-Disc Special Edition.
The films bring together the nonsensical comedy genius of Stephen Chow (KUNG FU HUSTLE) with insanely dynamic wirework action from Ching Siu-tung (HOUSE OF FLYING DAGGERS) and the irreverent writing and direction of Wong Jing (CITY HUNTER).
Adapted from Louis Cha’s final wuxia novel, the films depict the efforts of a crafty son of a prostitute with no kung fu skills to infiltrate the court of the Qing Dynasty for a rebellious secret society and best some of the martial world’s most notorious fighters with little more than his wits and a lot of luck.
Dragon Dynasty’s two-disc DVD release features audio commentary for both films from Hong Kong cinema expert Bey Logan, original theatrical trailers and an interview with Wong Jing.
Tech specs include English and original Cantonese audio tracks in Dolby Digital 5.1, optional English or Spanish subtitles, and a value-friendly suggested retail price of $19.95.
