One of the more interesting video game releases so far this year is Sierra’s THE BOURNE CONSPIRACY, an adaptation of Robert Ludlum’s popular spy novel series and the equally popular movies. Developer High Moon Studios set out to recreate the series’ frenzied pace and put the player right into the middle of the dizzying fight work that defines the feature films.

To succeed, they recruited veteran Hollywood action choreographer Jeff Imada whose resume includes such films as BLADE, FIGHT CLUB and THE BOURNE SUPREMACY. Using his own experience on the BOURNE film, Imada worked closely with the developer to give players the ability to dispatch their enemies with the same degree of unorthodoxy and ruthless efficiency that we have come to expect from world-class superspy Jason Bourne.

Since its release in June, THE BOURNE CONSPIRACY has earned moderately high marks from game critics despite some flaws. The general consensus is that the game is too short and repetitive for replay and contains clumsy shooting mechanics but the overall presentation effectively mirrors the fast-moving movies, while the hand-to-hand combat is exceptional.

Check out the following clips that include gameplay footage and an interview with Jeff Imada.

THE BOURNE CONSPIRACY is now available for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 consoles.
