Jackie Chan making ‘Armour of God III’ his 100th film

ARMOUR OF GOD

Jackie Chan is expected to begin production on a third ARMOUR OF GOD film later this year according to Chinese media as relayed by Wu-Jing.org. Chan will star and co-direct ARMOUR OF GOD: CHINESE ZODIAC along with Stanley Tong, following what has been six years of development on the project.

Emperor Motion Pictures is producing and handling distribution for what is described as a treasure hunting film that will send Chan globetrotting around the world.

Part of the translated article mentions that “it would be something that is expected to move the hearts of all Chinese worldwide.” I can’t speak for the Chinese but I just hope it’s more entertaining like the original ARMOUR GOD and less like THE MYTH, the last fantasy-tinged collaboration between Chan and Tong. Given that the action star just celebrated his 55th birthday on April 7th, I doubt we’ll see Chan attempting to free jump onto any tree branches but the film could still be fun.

The first two ARMOUR OF GOD films was Jackie Chan’s response to the INDIANA JONES films. Both have been released in the U.S. on DVD under the title OPERATION CONDOR by Dimension Films but out of order, dubbed and edited. I highly recommend tracking down licensed import versions instead and if you only watch one, make sure it’s the first ARMOUR OF GOD (aka OPERATION CONDOR 2).

I haven’t been keeping count but according to the same source, ARMOUR OF GOD III would mark Chan’s 100th film which is something for fans to celebrate. Quite a few Hong Kong actors have reached that milestone in the past when Hong Kong was cranking out as many as 300 movies a year but few of Chan’s stature and drive for perfection have managed such a feat.

    this film will be full of CGI, have pathetic cameos by lame hipsters, and be ready-made to be released in the US first and foremost. sorry to be cynical, but that's what most of jackie's recent films have been like. why on earth would he return to a filmmaking style of the late 80s/early 90s now? he won't. he'll make a modern, over-the-top film that is a caricature, a cartoon of the good ol' days.
    really, don't get me wrong, I love the good ol' jackie chan films that I grew up on. I really do wish he'll make a film that will last. a film that I would be happy to show my children. but... look at the world today, and tell me he won't make a ridiculous mockery of the AofG series.

    Chris tucker was to make a cameo as the amazon bodyguard who got her boobs punched by jackie in the first armour of god. apparently chris wanted too much money for appearing so jackie decided to digitally impose chris' face on the boobs of the original bodyguard. instead Just a rumour,mind

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++
    STOP PRESS

    apparently the amazon bodyguard wasnt happy with chris' face appearing on one of her boobs so they had to make a third plastic boob for mr tucker to appear on

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++

    STOP PRESS

    apparently because they couldnt make the boob look 'real' enough so jackie told chris that if he wanted to stay in the film he had to dress up like a boob. no further news at the moment as jackie and chris' agents are currently in negotiations

    ... Correction for Shanghai 2 Donnie vs Jackie :)

    I feel u, Jackie doesn't need those stars in the film. However if those stars are in the film we know that the level of martial arts in the film besides Jackie won't be disappointing. That's all I'm saying. Star power always helps kick up the excitement. The only reason I watched "Forbidden Kingdom" Jackie vs Jet. The only reason I went to the movie theater to see "Shanghai 2" Donnie vs Jet. "Sha Po Lang", excellent movie. But the icing on the cake was Donnie vs Wu Jing and Sammo. Thats all I'm saying, man. Peace

    jackie doesn't need all those stars for this film. its just gonna be his same martial art action with the stunts, but mostly its about the big stunts. everytime i think about the first 2 armour of god movies... i think of the desert.

    he's always in the media, doing something, kinda all over the place. the last interview i saw of him, he was talking about retiring, and about his show to find a new apprentice. well, where is that guy? lol. isn't he suppose to be the new jackie chan? wasn't jackie suppose to train that dude and get him started on his kf movie career?

    the last article i read about jackie, he was going on about his final movies he would do before calling it quits, like kung-fu panda, robin-b-hood, that one japanese film, a 3rd shanghai flick with owen wilson, and thats about it. he didn't mention a armour of god 3. i think he's out of his mind, doing a part 3. how is he gonna top the previous 2 that had those death defying stunts at his age?

    one stunt i like from operation condor, is the motorcycle chase scene, and a car flys at him, and jackie dodges it by flipping, using a pole.

    sometimes i feel like chan is on the news too much, and he's not hiding anything, but look at what we got here, he's gonna do a armour of god 3. there wasn't much stunts in rush hour 3 or forbidden kingdom, but since they been planning the 3rd film for 6 years, it really better just sell, and blow everyone away.

    This movie needs to be a martial arts spectacle. I mean it needs to have high quality martial arts action along with Armour Of God's classic asian gadgets and a excellent story/plot. Please I hope Jackie reads this because I'm gonna be soooo hurt if this movie is mediocre like "Forbidden Kingdom". Why not go all out and have: Donnie Yen, Jet Li, Wu Jing, Xin Xin Xong, Scott Adkins, Michael Jai White, Jeon Du Hong, Lateef Crowder, Tony Jaa, Cyril Rafelli, Kane Kosugi and so on. This movie need to be huge. Man, I'm excited. A global, epic, modern, martial arts, mystery, thriller adventure. Sorry I need to calm down... But seriously with the scale of the movies now and the money in the film industry and the martial arts stars around the planet along with Jackie being the biggest action star... Man! Ok I'm cool now :) Peace

    Chan's "adventure" based flms are the most rascist garbage there is (African spear chuckers in a part of Africa that does not exist; Tuareg warriors doing a made up spear dance that is supposedly martially/aesthetically inferior to Chan's Chinese spear form; big breasted African Amazon's, fumbling Arabs, primitive "voodoo" believing Indians whose indigenous martial arts (Kalaripayattu) are inferior to Chinese Kung Fu, and wacky Eastern Holy Grail seeking Europeans. In Chan's world, no matter what b.s. he spouts about, only the Chinese are sane, civilized, etc.

    Chan is the Mel Gibson of China. He should stick to old word Kung Fu classics, showing us classical Kung Fu in old China, and lave the modern stuff to those more capable, like maybe Yen.

    The hollywood industry invented the racial stereotypes and since then are everywhere in movie history if Jackie used those are just the way the american film industry had influenced other industries around the globe, this is another example on how the western civilization represents other [inferior] cults and/or civilizations.

    The classic kung fu cinema is dead long ago (decades), in order to resurrect the genere need to reinvent the whole thing from zero.
    And by the way when you mean -and lave the modern stuff to those more capable- sure you're saying let the american/hollywood film industry continue brainwashed the whole world and selling insulting stereotypes, and now who's being the most racist!

    No doubt Mr. Chan is one of the most prolific actors in history. His contributions to the film indsutry is just amazing. Just like Bruce Lee, there will never be another Jackie Chan.
  • Nah, there wiLL Be More, Diverse, Improved & Better

    Congratulations to Jackie for continuing to be a hard worker in the industry.Also for expressing his own beliefs regardless of what others think, even though his comments were for the good of the world.

    exactly sowutifmahsnsux...you couldn't have said it better. here we are'.....bitching about this and that, but for christ's sake...the man has made us entertained for quite some time...who else can you say that about.....and he is friggin 55! more power to him

    and yeah...i would love to see someone on this board give us a good to bad ratio of his films. i garauntee will outweigh the bad quite much

    hell lets just wish him luck and enjoy the damn film

    Armour of God's overrated. I'd rather have a remakequel to Project A, Dragons Forever, or even Wheels on Meals. I kind of also wished he'd give us a real Drunken Master 3 as he was considering, but those days are behind him.
  • He's come a long way since the old Run Run Shaw "country bumpkin" roles he used to be delegated. Guess there is no denying his talents..or his popularity...
  • sowutifmahsnsux
    What a milestone. No matter how many bumps along the road, keep making movies Mr. Chan - I cant imagine what life is going to be like after Jackie Chan (or Sammo, or Jet Li, or Donnie Yen, or even Tony Jaa...they just don't make genuinely epic action stars like they used to). You've continuously spoiled us with your talents - I think sometimes we forget that. lol, I wonder what the good movie to "bad" movie ratio is out of Jackie's 100 films
