Wudang

We talk about kung fu and Chinese martial arts movies a lot on this site and how great or not-so-great the contrived imagery and action looks. Sometimes it’s nice to step away from fantasy now and again and look at the real thing. In this case, it’s a collection of 60 gorgeous pictures of the real Wudang Mountains in Heibei, China, the legendary home of Taoism, tai chi and Wudang kung fu featured in so many wushu and wuxia films like CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON and SHAOLIN TEMPLE (1982).

I think filming in China is very difficult and wuxia movies are mostly meant for “commercial” fans rather than quality, so filmmakers won’t take such troubles.

King Hu is no longer living…..
Wong Kar Wai already made Ashes of Time…..Who else ?
