Prolific action B-movie maker Albert Pyun is developing a new feature film he describes as “the ultimate post-nuclear cyberpunk action film.” A draft of the screenplay was recently handed to Pyun by writers Kitty Chalmers (CYBORG), Rebecca Charles (NEMESIS) and Cynthia Curnan (TALES OF AN ANCIENT EMPIRE).

Pyun has been making zany action B-movies since 1982 with his debut THE SWORD AND THE SORCERER. He’s perhaps best known for directing Jean-Claude Van Damme in CYBORG but he’s turned out numerous fighting actioners including BLOODMATCH, KICKBOXER 2 and MAX HAVOC: CURSE OF THE DRAGON with co-direction by Isaac Florentine.

Pyun revealed his latest project on his web site where he provided some basic details.

“It’s the underground cyberpunk world versus the surface tribes of mechanized warriors. In essence it’s software versus hardware,” writes Pyun. “[It's] incredibly ambitious and with action set pieces that are honestly mind-blowing.”

Pyun named NEMESIS star Olivier Gruner and Van Damme as the two leads he would most like to cast. Pyun hopes to secure adequate funding in time to begin shooting by the end of 2011.

Here is Albert Pyun’s complete, unedited announcement:

Big News. I just received a draft of a screenplay called “NEMESIS / CYBORG“. It’s a collaboration of the writer of the Van Damme “Cyborg” film (Kitty Chalmers) with the writer of my Olivier Gruner “Nemesis” film (Rebecca Charles) and the writer of “Tales of an Ancient Empire” (Cynthia Curnan). I asked them to create the ultimate post nuclear cyber punk action film for me to shoot in 2011.
I think they pulled it off. It’s the underground cyberpunk world versus the surface tribes of mechanized warriors. In essence it’s software versus hardware.
Incredibly ambitious and with action set pieces that are honestly mindblowing. The world these three writers have created is so dense and rich and populated with remarkable characters like “Nen Tenndo”, “EA Namco”, “Activ Vizion”, “Con Ami”, “Kap Comm” on one side and “Daisycutter”, “Tomahawk”, “Martin Lockheed”, “MOAB”
Supporting characters like “Twitter Troll”, “Stealth Sparrow”, “Sim Sparq”, “Raptor”, “I.M. Twisher”, “AGM Harpoon”, “6Y”.
Question is whether I can get this sucker properly funded and into production by the end of next year. Be great to have Gruner leading the software cyberpunks and Van Damme leading his army of armored death. Matrix versus Transformers. You can imagine what’s left at the end of this war.

Well, this could be very cool. Both Cyborg and Nemesis are two of my favourite movies.
Hey Mark, don't forget about Heatseeker, with Gary Daniels and Keith H Cooke in a cyborg powered full contact tournament. Oh! and Knights, with Kathy Long, Gary Daniels, Kris Kirstofferson and Lance Henriksen.

Except Black Eagle, all of Van Damme films in the 90's were GREAT! Cyborg is still one of the best movies ever made in the world till today. What the 'F' are you talking about!

He probably means Albert Pyun (the director). While he's not a top director, I would say he's decent and a bit of an adquired taste. Most of his flicks I've seen are actually quite fun. Nemesis, while far from perfect is pretty good, and Cyborg remains very cool to this day.
