BLACK DYNAMITE, Scott Sanders’ comedy send-up to 1970s Blaxploitation action cinema starring Michael Jai White is coming to the U.K after a deal was struck with T&C Pictures International and Icon.
This follows Sony Pictures’ North American acquisition at the Sundance Film Festival where the film was such a hit that it sparked a feverish bidding war among potential buyers. Sony has yet to announce a release date in the U.S.
The action parody is set in the 1970s and stars White as a former CIA man and avenging vigilante out to clean up the streets by taking on corrupt officials and dope dealers. See official site for details.
In related news, Cinematical has scored an exclusive clip from BLACK DYNAMITE that has me wanting to see this movie bad. The action choreography is genius. It’s intentionally funny and yet looks better than the majority of serious action coming out of Hong Kong and Hollywood these days. A big thumbs up to White and choreographer Ron Yuan. This film looks to be hitting all the right notes so far. Sony needs to get this movie out soon.
