Magnolia Pictures is bringing director Poj Arnon’s Thai action comedy CHAI LAI ANGELS: DANGEROUS FLOWERS (2006) to DVD on December 15.

This intentional rip-off of the CHARLIE’S ANGELS films puts five actresses into the roles of “Chai Lais,” special agents tasked with foiling a kidnapping and protecting the mysterious “Pearl of the Andaman” from a criminal syndicate.

TarsTarkas.net has a detailed review with lots of screen shots and poster art.

Also, check out the wacky escalator fight below where the heroines fight in bath towels. Word is, they were all wearing bikinis underneath and had their towels taped on which was probably a good idea given the amount of compromising fighting moves being performed.

the lead actress, pictured center on the box art was the love interest in Tum Yung Gong (aka The Protector) and the “charlie” role is played by Mok Jomok, star of the Thai Bodyguard films and comic relief in Ong Bak and Tum Yung Gong. Decent enough little cheesecake action film with a likable cast and typically un-PC thai comedy.

Magnet, what the hell happened to your art department? This cover looks like something Dimension or Dragon Dynasty would fart out, right down to the crappy tagline. You guys/girls have proven capable of far better than this garbage.

its a fun movie, its an action comedy and very much a spoof on the whole 'Charlie's Angels' genre…the opening scene is very much a homage to the opening of the MCG version

Cast includes the lovely Kessarinh, the TKD champ from 'Born to Fight' also in 'Som Tum' and soon to be seen in 'Vanquishers'….

It's a Thai take on Wong Jing styled female action movies, and if you liked 'The Bodyguard' movies with mum Jokmok, this is great fun too

    Hi Mike,

I agree with you. It is a fun film. It is like a Wong Jing production, a bit more lighthearted though, loved the car stunts. Miss the real rough grrls like Chigmy, Jade, and Almen though for the action! Cool seeing you on these boards. So far my picks for 09 are Ninja and The Tournament– Take care–Danny
