CNN recently posted highlights from an hour-long, English-language “Talk Asia” interview with a very animated Jet Li, shot in Hong Kong in front of a live studio audience with hostess Anjali Rao. There are three viewable video segments available online.
In “Action Hero,” viewers are treated to scenes from WARLORDS as Li contrasts the attractive violence in HERO with the more gritty action of his most recent work. He briefly talks about Mel Gibson and offers up a very frank appraisal of WAR and its inexperienced director.
In “Martial Arts,” Li talks about his humble roots, his wushu training and performing for world leaders. Of particular interest is hearing his thoughts on his first feature, SHAOLIN TEMPLE, and the murder of his manager in Hong Kong.
In “The Tsunami,” Li recalls surviving the disaster that hit Southeast Asia in 2004 while he was vacationing with his family in the Maldives. He also covers the Beijing Olympics, Tibetan Buddhism, the Dalai Lama, and Chinese unification.
