There is a new American indie feature from writer-director Jamin Winans that has been garnering major buzz outside of Hollywood. This visually stunning, $250,000 production is simply called INK and it’s being favorably compared by viewers to DARK CITY, NIGHTWATCH and PAN’S LABYRINTH. While it appears to incorporate a lot of unusual elements into what looks to be a very fresh and unique fable, there also appears to be a fair amount of free-running and fight work mixed in as well.

An 8-year-old becomes a pawn in a metaphysical war being fought between the forces of light and darkness in this visually outrageous thriller.
Kidnapped by a large, strange creature known as Ink, the girl is taken through a labyrinthine world of dream states while those who love her fight to bring her back into the real world and bring salvation to her desperate father.
The good news is that INK just premiered on DVD and Blu-ray last week. It’s also available as a VOD download from iTunes and either a disc or VOD rental at Netflix (thanks jave). Additionally, the filmmakers are acknowledging the success of the film as a popular file-sharing download online and are asking those who have done so to make a voluntary contribution which can be done through their web site. There you’ll also find for sale autographed copies of the DVD and Blu-ray, as well as a t-shirt, poster and soundtrack.
We’ll have more coverage of this fascinating movie in the future.
