After getting some rave review for her lead role debut in HAYWIRE, mixed martial artist Gina Carano is ready to kick some butt again as she has signed to star in her next action film.
Carano will star in IN THE BLOOD, an action film whose central plot point seems reminiscent of the Liam Neeson-starrer TAKEN (2008). Carano will play a woman whose husband disappears while they are on vacation. Believing that he has been kidnapped and perhaps, killed, she sets out on a mission to find the ones responsible.
Former actor turned director John Stockwell has signed to direct the film. Bennett Yellin and James Robert Johnston wrote the film and producing are Shaun Redick and Ray Mansfield. While they haven’t officially signed, HAYWIRE’s stunt team, the 87Eleven, are currently in negotiations to re-team with Carano for the action sequences.
Shooting is scheduled to begin this summer in Puerto Rico for a 2013 release date.
